But to answer your question, using the adaptor can be a pain in the neck for hand-held. Your hand will be resting on knobs or the XLR cable (whichever way you have it screwed onto the camera). Heath Graham Morton April 5th, 2005, 04:07 PM at897 or me/66 with fx1 which mic would be better for the fx1 since i have read good things for both but not a comparison. Pete Wilie April 5th, 2005, 04:36 PM Do a search on these forums and you will find lots of reviews and comparisons. David Ennis April 5th, 2005, 05:48 PM What you'll sift out of the comments and reviews that you find is that the ME66 is more sensitive and a bit more effective at isolating a sound source at a distance, but that the AT897 is judged by some hands here to be sweeter sounding. Personally, I'd be inclined to go with the AT897, especially since the DXA-8's preamps level the playing field on sensitivity. Graham Morton April 5th, 2005, 07:50 PM Fred that makes sense, I can't believe I didn't even question that. I also like that I don't have to buy the power accesory for the at897. Appreciate it. Greg Jacobson April 6th, 2005, 03:57 PM The me66 sounds like you are talking inside of a tin can. Marco Leavitt April 6th, 2005, 07:45 PM "The me66 sounds like you are talking inside of a tin can." That is just plain not true. Gregory Doi April 6th, 2005, 08:06 PM Ive used both for a while now. They got strong points and weak points. I like the AT897 a little better then the ME66. Especially for the price. Jon Omiatek April 6th, 2005, 08:44 PM I agree.. The me66 is much more expensive. I personally own a at897 and it's a great mic! I did a bunch of research on this forum prior to purchasing the 897 from BHphoto. The shotgun depends on the application. I use it for weddings and interviews and it works great! |
