View Full Version : Got Z1 need advice on a Stereo Microphone Hse Kha April 2nd, 2005, 09:16 AM Just got my Sony HDV Z1 and now I am looking to get a Stereo Microphone to improve on the on board one. Any recommendations? Thanks. Hse Kha April 2nd, 2005, 09:40 AM I should add what I am looking for:- - Wide frequency response. To able to capture real bass down to 20Hz? - Directional, but also able to capture "stereo ambience". So a bit of both really. - To able to fit the Z1 perfectly - As low cost as possible, but I can strech to $500 at maximum Thanks. Sean M Lee April 2nd, 2005, 11:52 AM what type of stuff are you shooting? What kind of environment do you planning on? Hse Kha April 2nd, 2005, 12:18 PM I will be shooting outdoors in cities and also people talking but want to isolate their sound while still getting the stereo ambience of their surroundings. I was looking at the Audio Technica AT835ST. But at $600 that's a lot of money! Is it worth it? Seems to be ideal as it is switchable between wide stereo and narrow directional. Any other cheaper ones? Thanks. Matt Stahley April 2nd, 2005, 02:10 PM The AT stereo mics are nice but IMO I would not want to cam mount one.The mic is very sensitive will pick up your hand movements and any sound you make as well as what its pointed at even with a good shockmount etc. |
