I want to be able to edit in higher resolutions like 2K+ and color correct in improved colorspace so I downloaded the trial edition of Vegas pro 9.
At this moment I don't want to use HD-SDI cards for color correction. Just a good & calibrated DVI monitor.
Are there known issues that I should double check?

If you don't have a fast/fat RAID, plan on previewing in Draft/Auto or Draft Full. both work well. For preview, you'll be watching at HD resolutions, but color shouldn't be a problem.
Search around on Vimeo, you can see me editing full framerate from a RED Flash card on a very old computer, but it's not the method I'd recommend most folks use.
Vegas manages the SI2K very well.
Be sure your second monitor is calibrated. I use Spyder and Gretagmacbeth. Both are good, both have saveable profiles, both are auto calibrated and easy to use.

Douglas,
Welcome back to the forum! I hope your recovery has gone well.
To put it mildly, I'm well past the "We don't know if he'll make it through the night" and past the "We're not sure if paralysis will be the result of this accident or not."
Last Friday I got clearance from my doctor to ride my motorcycle as long as I wear my leg braces. I've been out on the Salt Flats shooting commercial work, and expect to be at the World Wingsuit Record event in SoCal in November. And will likely make my comeback skydive at that time.
It's good to be alive.

Good news Spot, and almost spoken with true British "Dunkirk spirit" (except you're not British... but we'll adopt you as one an honorary one anyway since you've done so much good mentoring on this forum for us over here, and everyone everywhere else really!)
Welcome back!
