Hi!
Can any one name some good books for Video Newbies
(Something like "What everyone should know `bout Video and NLE" or "1000 things about Video / NLE you would not ask 4" ...)
After working "like a pro" for about 3 years, I need some literature to learn the basics... ;-)

Does anyone know of any remarkable books on lighting? I know nothing on the subject.

try masters of light. It was written for film, but you can still learn quite a bit from it. Just a suggestion:}

as a general intro to video/film/still lighting i would recommend Ross Lowell's book "Matters of Light and Depth". Its not a thick one, but it presents the over all concepts of artistic lighting, and some studies, and also presents a list of recommended titles on lighting.

books i found helpful that i read are:

shot by shot by steven katz; (good general purpose read)

the five C's of cinematography by joseph mascelli; (nice descriptions and explanations about the "why's" in shooting/editing)

cinematography SE by kris malkiewicz; (covers a lot more technical aspects than five C's. types of films, camera, lights, filters, etc)
