Hi,
I have mvx3i - european version of Optura XI.

I compared it to some older cameras (Panasonic NV-DX1 - old DV, and Sony TR650 - old Hi8).
I was confused by optura's wide angle compared to this oldcams. MVX3i has the smallest wide angle then other cams! So this is very strange... Very good lenses, any other feautre is better, but wide angle is quite small... Strange!

Has anyone noticed it also?

I think it's a good idea to buy a wide-angle adapter for this camera, put it on and just leave it on at all times. You can offset the front-heavy weight by adding a large capacity battery at the rear.

When you say: ''MVX3i has the smallest wide angle then other cams!'' Martin, are you perhaps refering to the focal length of the lens? If so, you'll realise that the two other cameras you mention used 1/3" chips, whereas your Canon MVX3i has a smaller 1/3.4" chip and has a 4.7 mm focal length at wide-angle. My guess is the other two cams have something like a 6 mm focal length at wide-angle, and on screen there's probably not much between them.

This is why it's a good idea to compare the 35mm equivalent fields of view. The difference in CCD sizes pretty much negates an accurate comparison based on focal length alone, for the reasons that Tom has pointed out above.
