Not sure if it's been brought up here before,
but I think it's pretty new.
I've lately been thinking it would be nice
to have a single-channel portable mic pre,
and I like everything about the
Sound Devices unit, except that I've
become use to having peak-indicating
LEDs, and the Sound Devices unit doesn't
have this.
Just ran across this PSC pre:
http://www.professionalsound.com/catalog/DV%20Promix%201.htm
This is the only portable field one-channel pre
that I've seen that has peak-indicating LEDs.
Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see what the
gain levels are that it offers. Don't quite
understand what they mean by "switchable
limiters". A nice thing about the Sound Devices
unit is that it has variable limiters.
I have heard that PSC has a great reputation.
I thought their PSC Mjr was an intriguing product
but it has been discontinued.
Anyone here used the Mjr or the Promix 1?
but I think it's pretty new.
