I'm sorry if this has been discussed already, but I wasn't able to find much disucssion on it.

I'm thinking about getting the Nebtek 7" lcd monitor for my XL2, however I plan on doing a lot of handheld shooting using a support system (similar to the MarzPak), and I'm not sure if the size/weight on the monitor is going to be a problem.

If anyone has one of these setups, can you try doing some handheld work with the monitor attached and see how inhibiting it is.

Hi Chris,

I don't have any knowledge or experience in this. From doing a search, it looks like you're right...people have mostly discussed the technical specs and not really about the on-camera useability. Here's a few threads that MIGHT have a few tidbits for you, though:

Anyone out there with real-world experience with mounted LCD monitors and hand-held support systems?

Hi Chris,
The 7" monitor will definitely be an asset to you. I use the 7" Panasonic on the XL1 and love it, but I do it on tripod shots or hand held shots where I actually hold the camera handle for low tracking shots. I wasn't even familiar with the MarzPak until your post. If you use this rig, you might have to put up with your wire attachment running in front of the monitor, assuming you would attach the monitor to the hot shoe bracket. To bring the monitor off to the side of the camera would definitely throw the system out of balance. I think you'd have real problems there.
Good luck
Rob
