Hey guys I haven't posted here in ages, but I thought maybe someone could help me out. I'm interested in filming independent bands at small venues, and in some cases larger ones. The problem I have been running into is the sound seems to peak causing distortion no matter what I do. Every instrument except for the bass and sometimes the drums comes through beautifully. I am looking at getting an external mic for my GL-2 in the hopes that this might help fix the problem. If anyone has any suggestions for mics, or even tricks they could offer it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.

Have you engaged the MicATT switch on your GL-2? That should keep the mics from overloading.
There are a variety of mics available and a variety of ways to interface to your camera. There are lots of threads on here about that.
How much are you wanting to spend and will you be moving around or a fixed location?

Ok now I feel dumb, I wasn't even aware fo the Mic ATT switch. I'm lost as to where to find it.

As far as spending on a mic I don't want to break the bank, but I don't want to get crap either. I'm thinking $500 or so.
