Hello,
I have many DV material from which I only want to use the audio. So I want to seperate the audio from the video before I import it into Audicity. Is there a simple tool to do this. I know I can import the clips into an editor and then export audio only, but that is exactly what I want to avoid. Audicity will NOT import audio only!
Thanks,
Rob

You can use Adobe Audition. It will import just the audio from the video or you can try using the software below. I have used it and it worked for me. Hope that helps.

Quicktime will save audio (that for which it has the right codecs) as aiff or wav files; mpegstreamclip (Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac and Windows (http://www.squared5.com)) will also demux audio from a number of sources, including mpeg. Both freeware. / Battle Vaughan

Rob is correct about QT Pro, worked with it for so long I sort of take it as granted...so it's not free, but extremely inexpensive and capable...thanks for the correction! / B Vaughan

You should be clicking on the link that says Download Switch for Windows or Mac. Those are just other software they offer. Have you figured it out yet?

I have downloaded Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac and Windows and am very happy with it. Does exactly and precisely and fast what I want it to do: seperate audio from vide. Didn't need even a blink into manuals or help. Good stuff. Thanks.
