The mic holder on the Z1 is not well insulated from the body so camera handling noise is easily picked up.
I've noticed that a thin rubber gasket seperates the mic holder from the body. Surely some enterprising Z1 owner would like to experiment with a thicker layer of rubber and some rubber washers under the heads of the two mounting screws found inside the holder. Should work to make it more useable.

LightWave Systems makes an excellent replacement mic holder for the PD150 / 170. I wonder if it will adapt to the Z1, or if they plan on a separate piece for this application. Check it out at http://www.lightwavesystems.com/products/minimount/mm_pd150.htm

Already been playing....needed to work on cutting wind noise as well, and cut out a small fuzzy for the cam. Works really well. I'll post pics later this week.
I got some killer-kick ass footage of 4 elk in rut, complete with horn scraping noise, even though I couldn't get closer than 50 yards.

If you went closer it could have been a real good test for motion artifacts. See Spot. See Spot run!

Been a few years since I heard that one. When I was younger, I always was offended by friends saying that. When I got older, it took on a strong humor for me. Thanks for the laugh! (Seriously)
I was on a fairly high hill, looking down. I didn't want to walk down into the draw, because if I had, it definitely would have scared them off. As it was, they were already paying pretty close attention to me. I see this herd nearly every day in the winter, but they usually don't get quite close enough to the house to shoot, and they're skittish as hell.

Sigh. I've been to Utah a couple of times. A beautiful place.

Just been on the phone to CVP. They have designed a new Mic Holder. Not cheap but its a good one and does the job.

I should think overseas buyers would lose the VAT.
