Hey guys. Well im putting together a small miniDV camera kit so that if there is an event where i cant bring my shouldermount camera i can simply take the smaller camera. First off the camera doesnt have a shot on it...so im getting a flash bracket for the camera to mount a light. Now...the main problem here is that it does not have a mic-in connector. So ive decided to record my audio to a minidisc recorder that im getting. For my mic im going to get an XLR Female to 1/8" jack cable so it can plug into the minidisc. Now my main problem here is that i need a way to provide power to the mic since the MD Recorder cant do that. I know i saw some type of a 1/8" power supply that runs off like a 9V battery..but i cant find a link to that anywhere. Also ill need a way to increase or decrease the volume of the mic. I was thinking of using a headphone volume control for this...would that work ? Please guys..try to gimme some help. Also note that i want the lowest costing solution..since im totally broke.

I don't know if I'm allowed to suggest this, but you can buy a MS907/908 microphone from a Sony Store. The Sony Store has a refund policy.... which makes up for their overpricing I suppose.

Tough situation to be in. Athough I want to suggest you break down and spend a few hundred and buy a camcorder with a mic input, you have to be very selective in getting good audio when using the mic input on lower end digital camcorders.

Another topic mentions that the low cost Canon Optura line has manual microphone input controls and you may be better off starting with more audio control on the low cost Canon then having to deal with getting a mini-disk recorder then syncing it up later.

Sadly i cant get another camera with a mic input since this camera is already in the mail and on its way here. Hmm..
