I use the Sony UWP-C1 system.. They are my favorite.. For a little perspective, I have also used Lectrosonics, Shure, Audio Technica.... The sony performs just as well as these...

I'm glad to hear you like the Sony setup. I am planning on getting a PD170 through B&H and I was looking at that mic...

It's a good kit, I have it and it has never let me down. The units are light and run 8 hours off two pairs of 2300 mA NiMH batteries (not included). There is a comparable Sennheiser kit with more bells and whistles, the G2, which seems to have a slightly better capsule and a slightly worse radio.

Can you recommend something maybe a little bit cheaper..?

There is nothing sub $500 that I would buy... Save your $$ until you can afford a good wireless. There are two things to spend your $$ on (or wait until you can) that is wireless mics (or mics in general) and tripods. I am still using a tripod I bought 12 years ago...

AKG WMS 400 is a great system. They have just brought out the WMS 40PRO which looks good too.
