I found no resolution loss at all even though I deinterlaced the video.

With DVFilm Maker there won't be resolution loss in static areas. There will be resolution loss where it detects and corrects interlace combing. Swap windows back and forth between both picture, looking especially at flower edges where interlace combing can be seen. You will see the deinterlaced image is slightly blocky.

Smart deinterlacing, it's not half bad.

Opinions vary. Some Vegas users who've compared
have come up with a differing opinion --
which opinions could be found through
a search.

I wouldn't use Vegas for deinterlacing because it softens the image. (IMO)

Try this in Vegas. Set deinterlace method to none and set your project to progressive. See if that looks better than blend or interpolate. ;-)

All I did was shoot video at 60i, edit it in Vegas, and convert it to 30P (or 24P) using DVFilmMaker. Now I think I'm ready for shooting an action movie w/ my video camera. :)
