If anyone is using the Steadicam Merlin with the HM100 can you share your preset settings? It's not listed on the online cookbook.

I found this Youtube demonstration and their settings got me very close. I'm still tweaking but definitely usable now.

After cursing at the Merlin for a few days i finally figured it out but thank anyway.
You can actually get away with using less mids i use 1 start 1 mid and 1 finish.
The presentation uses 3 mids which is a bit heavy for me.
For the center arm I use 1 mid 1 finish.

Thank you for the follow up Kaj. I will give that a try. Less weight would be nice. :) I'm looking forward to actually getting some footage with the Merlin. Getting it setup has been frustrating for me too. :)

Hey all,

ok took it back as its a pain in the butt!

I couldnt handle the small but annoying bobbing motion... it was VERY minor, but it bothered me.

I also think the Merlin is 100% useless in the outdoors. wind = unusable.

I still haven't balanced either my JVC HM100 or my Canon 5D. I've worked on it a couple of times but just haven't had the time to make it happen. So the Merlin sits on the shelf for now.
