I need the sound effect "beep" for someone swearing.
I searched audio filters and Soundtrack but still can't find the same 'beep' that network television uses (i.e. Cops, South Park, reality tv).
Any ideas?
Thanks,
mike

I've used a chunk of the FCP bars and tone generator, less the bars of course!

to take it a step further, you could always slow the FCP Bars tone down or speed it up to get the pitch correct.

DTMF tones can be generated in Audition. Similar to the tones from a telephone handset.
Or, goose honk, car horn or doorbell from your sound effects library.

I was going to say just that Patrick, but I decided to let you do it for me!

Your Monster House type shows are doing very seamless edits by cutting in sounds of power tools and other noises present at the location. Sometimes it catches me off guard. Also, check out edited hip-hop albums. I seem to remember a Wu-Tang Clan edit using buzzing bees. Nice.

Just for the record (pun not intended),
In recording circles, I have heard and used the method were you cut out the offending word and flip it backwards.

I always find the beeps annoying. How about just muting that bit of audio or putting a soft hiss or something over the offending word?
