Steeeevvv, that last shot has me worried. How will you ever get all those parts in, in time to fulfill on my order of 250 units!?

Plus I wanted mine made out of the bone-white PVC. It has to match the accents on my XL2a.

And how much vignetting can I get? You promised me I could have dark creepy corners!

And, um, I found out I can only spend forty bucks, but in pounds sterling, that's, like, almost a hundred, right?

And you deliver ... right?

... hello?

Steev, that was terrific! Very well executed, sir. Your initiative has earned you some Kennelmaster Swag, if you want it... I noticed you're an XL2 owner. If you'd like one of the very rare and coveted Canon XL2 baseball caps that are not available anywhere, I have one to give to you. Please send me your shipping address via private email, and I'll get some assorted Canon swag headed your way. Also, we'd be happy to host this clip from the DV Info Net server, so if your bandwidth is being eaten up, just let me know. Your video should remain in perpetuity as long as this forum is alive. You're my new hero, dude!

I think youve infringed one one of my patents, let me see...

ah yes - its the elephants swinging trunk model, the one that swings in oscillation mode and sees round corners

stay still, dont move a muscle, I'm sending the cops round to shake you down

i am working on the same adapter. thank you for some ideas. but mine will be compatible with all systems:

pal/ntsc/secam/vhs/vieo200/philips vcr/betamax/betasp/betasx/MII/D1-D9/imx/digibeta/hd/hdv/16mm/35mm/70mm/IMAX/credit card photos/CCTV cameras and microscopes!

but unfotunatelly much, much longer - due to compatibility.

thanks for sharing info. i will suggest you to speciall DV info community prize!

Steev,

You blew everyone's covers and patents and..... all.............

Left nothing to no one.

Damn..............

Got funding for the sequel?

I wonder what my friend, who is toiling away on his own version (and a gearhead) would think of this.

heath

Aaron Shaw
February 4th, 2005, 11:53 PM
gearhead? As in part of a follow focus assembly?

Charles Papert
February 5th, 2005, 12:27 AM
I would think as in a gearhead (http://www.arri.com/prod/cam/arrihead/img/head_b.jpg), no?

Heath, is he miniaturizing the whole thing for DV cameras? Interesting (and slightly bizarre) concept...just hope that if he's reverse engineering, he's working from one of the good ones (Panahead or Arrihead), not the not-so-good (Mini-Worrall).

Heath McKnight
February 5th, 2005, 09:17 AM
Whoops, I meant gear head, like Radiohead head (Radiohead fans) or Dead head (Grateful Dead fans), as in, he's a nut when it comes to working on stuff.

Brett Erskine

Funny you mentioned "gearhead" because I was going to offer that as one of the only explaination why me and a lot of other people tinker with this project for so long - It IS like being a gearhead, as in car nut. So many people work on their classic cars (including myself) for countless hours just to get that last 10% out of it or to do something no one has seen before. God knows if you actually subtract the cost of the new parts and ALL THAT LABOR from the price of the car when you end up selling it you dont even want to know how little you're getting paid per hour.

Making these mini35 adapters is a lot like tinkering with your classic car. You do it because its interesting to find out about all the little details of the things you love doing. I know this project has made me better understand optics and the why and how of lenses. At the same time if you're doing this so much that your not learning from experience as well (as in actually shooting a film) then it becomes counter productive. With cars this point is where your kicked out of the house to sleep in the car you love too much but thats another story. Anyways sometimes tinkering will have more benifits than simply saving you a buck. For instance I decided to make an adapter that using medium format lenses and 35mm lenses. Some have said that the P+S Technik mini35 is a bit too soft for SD and with HD coming around the corner as a mainstream thing I believe my medium format adapter is likely to deliver results that are superior to the P+S Technik and in the process learn something and save a buck.

Oh yeah...and have some fun doing it too.

Heath McKnight
February 8th, 2005, 10:07 PM
Once you said car nut, it all makes sense to me now!

is previous message connected with ultimate 35mm adapter?

can you explain me the secret connection?

do you use the parts of it to build adapter? :))))

My god, that got me thinking instantly, and now I'm using dual intake and nitrous oxide on my 35mm adapter. It's a major bitch to focus but I tell ya, I now have the fastest imaging device on the planet. Thanks guys!

Dan Diaconu
February 9th, 2005, 04:08 PM
LOL....
fastest as in f/T stops or speed as AF?
That was a good one Steev.

I'm using dual intake and nitrous oxide<<<<<<<
If the exhaust is white/light grey, that means it does not burn oil at all, so... is good. LOL

I didn't read the whole tread, but one thing I don't get.
The 27th ring, unless the 13th is part of the 12th, because than it would be the 26th ring, and maybe the ring nr. 23 and nr. 24 are one, so it means that ring 27 is 25 when 12 and 13 are also one ring, otherwise 26...what is it. I mean the cilinder shaped part right after the 3 rings before the ground glass, so if you count from the camera, it would be part 89 (unless you don't count the mount on the back, I mean 88)
That part, is it a magnifying glass?

I ask, because maybe this will solve all my problems.

Steev Dinkins
February 12th, 2005, 08:14 PM
In fact, or reality, or strong-as-nails-opinion, or good-enough-until-embarrasingly-refuted, the 88th (not including the back), is easier equated as the sum of conjugation of the combined efforts hereforeto herein optical jibby jabb jabb thingamadoos compounded upon integrated parts that comes out to approximately 5. Now that 5 is much harder to brain wrap since the aforementioned jibby jabb jabbs are like a million crawling insects under the porch rug of the optical chain. It took me 8 escalating versions of monumental invention, 26 visits to my psychotherapist, $6589.43 USD, and it came down to this:

I took a hammer to it, bought 120 DVDs of the greatest movies ever produced in the history of human kind, and sat in my recliner with remote control in hand, and huge ass plasma TV in front of my face. The image quality and DOF is everything I've been searching for, and I don't even have to pick up a camera, write a script, badger my friends to be crew, or wade through hordes of horrible wanna be actors, or anything.

i do not agree with you Steev,

much better is to buy a whole CHAIN of biggest hollywood movie theaters and THEN to watch DOF!!!!
the collection of 120 greatest movies should be the same. with this i can agree.

p.s.

don't you think that our answers are much less funny (including this one) then the original - first one - the starter of the thread?

People, I looked again at the adapter and I think I found the main difference between our normal adapters and the Steev Dinkins device. Look closely at the last ring, just near the end. I think it's a DVD. I think he's watching DVD's through this thing.

Steev,
Move the GG a touch closer to the lens so you don't get vigneting at all.
Is not bad, but is there (a bit)
You can do it , I can help... lol.....

re: adapter-Steeeeve, She's a real beaut, I'll take two.

Gosh and you got so popular, so quick. Can I eat at the cool kid's table too? Liked the Bit with Kenny. Tell him I said "para diddle", not "touch your nipple". Frickin' cell phones.
