Will 1000 Grit Aluminum Oxide work to ground glass?

Or is it to fine?

Thanks,

In my opinion, nothing is "too" fine regarding final grind. It just may take you forever to get there from scratch. I believe others have started from course to fine.

However, I recommend buying a 1500 GG from Thorlabs (for 55mm ring) or Optosigma (for smaller), and if need be, do just slight final grinding with 3 micron (1500 grit) Aluminum Oxide. Soooooooo much easier.

Buy a few GGs in case something goes wrong with your grind.

can someone explain me something: with all the grit/micron/mesh stuff, I don't understand wat should I use. From this conversion table, the 3micorn is actualy 8000grit. the 1500 grit is like 13-14micron:
