Is it that true?
Heard many small companies are preparing HD affordable cameras to be released this year. Will this mean a new wave of inexpensive professional HD production or is it just an unfounded rumour?

HDV, you know, the 25mb/s knock-off of HD.
I don't think you're going to see "uncompressed" HD at a consumer level for a long time. I mean a VERY, VERY long time. It's just not practical even from a digital storage standpoint. I mean people are bitchin' over a $500 Mac being too expensive and you think they're going to set up multi terabyte storage to hold their home movies. (Not to mention the computer needed to get it there.)

I guess the term "inexpensive" would need to be defined. The only thing really buzzing lately is HDV. It would be nice to see, but judging from the cameras already announced I don't expect anything really earth shattering in the near future.

Well, if I could get a decent HD camera for around 30K I would buy it for sure!!
I do professional work. And as you all should know a decent "pro" camera goes around that price for SD.So Having the same price for an HD system would be fantastic!
