Frank told me about this new forum and invited me to join. He knows 'way more about the MX cameras than I do (my DV camera is the Panny DJ100 -- a model earlier than the MX3000). But having worked in Tokyo for some 20 years, I've learned how to read Japanese. If someone needs help figuring something out in a menu, viewfinder display, manual, has a question they'd like to ask Panasonic Japan, etc., feel free to let me know -- happy to help as best I can.

Hi Tim, thanks for joining us here!

After having known you for the past couple years from the DV-L mailing list, it's nice to welcome you aboard to our digs. And many thanks to Frank for sending you the invitation. It's great to have you with us,

Hey Tim,

Welcome to the Japanese connection of DVInfo.net. There's a few of us here, well 4 actually. Myself, John Locke, and Takashi(12edman) are here in Tokyo, or there abouts, and Rik Sanchez down Osaka way. If you have time we should try to get together.

Thanks for the welcome, Chris and Adrian. Adrian, I was just in Chigasaki on a location shoot about a month or so ago. Are you doing production work here too? Small world!

Tim,
welcome from the Osaka chapter of DVinfo. I'm sure my homeboy Rob Moreno will chime in later.

20 years, damn, and I thought my 11 years was long.

I haven't learned to read a lot of Japanese so for now I just memorize what the settings are.

Hopefully I'll be up there again this winter and we can have a get together in Tokyo. But if you ever head down to Osaka, just let me know.

Do you guys think we should order some DVinfo-East Crew t-shirts? :-) A couple more members here in Japan and we can start a baseball team. Looks like we are catching up in numbers to the Texans!

Tim, anything new and exciting from Japan these days? A new MX cam perhaps?
