Hey all. I'm editing 24p from an XL2 on FCP HD. But I'm having a little problem. Whenever characters or anything moves, small lines appear all around where theres movement. Anyone know what this problem is?

I've noticed the same thing. These are the interlace type lines?
I think it has something to do with the way you're supposed to digitize the footage when you shoot in 24p. Someone will come along and fill you in (or you can respond to your own post). I don't know enough to tell you what to do, I'm sorry.

There is no special way to capture 24p. 24PA there are, but not plain old 24p.

Are these lines visible on a TV/NTSC monitor? Or only the computer monitor?

Thanks, Shane. I'll make sure I apply the knowledge I gained here to my work in the future.

They're visible on both a tv and on a computer screen.

Read this website, make sure you are up to date on how you should capture and edit your footage.
It appears our helpful friend Shane was onto something, he just didn't finish the thought. Zinn's article will help you differentiate between 24p and 24pA.

Thanks fo the link. I've noticed, interestingly enough, that it only appears to happen on the 16:9 footage.
