Is there anyone here that puts their final product to DVD? DVD-RAM drives have been on the market for about a year now, still pricey, and top capacity seems to be under 5GB....

Most of my work will be done via the internet, but I'd like to also look at other possibilities. I'm going to play with VCD for small movies as well.

Comments on DVD-R / RAM technology?

Does anyone go as far as putting their good work on DVD through a production house?

Set-top DVD players (and most DVD-rom players in PC's) CANNOT
read DVD-RAM!!! If you want maximum compatibility go with a
Pioneer A03 or A04 (OEM models are 103 and 104) that does
DVD-R! If you want 100% compliant discs have them pressed.

Everyone at the moment makes more or less sure that they
are compatible with Pioneer because most of the people use
that burner.

Heh, my mistake. I used 'DVD-RAM' to encompass the home DVD-writer market. Yes, DVD-R is the way to go. Given the smaller 4GB size, I'd probably use DVD-R/RAM discs for stock footage.

It should come out in October at around 350 US dollars. The
amazing thing is that it does: DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/+RW and
CD-R/-RW! More or less everything! (except DVD-RAM, which
you can just use any of the (-)(+)RW standars for!). Amazing.

Nice thing is that you are going to be compatible with whatever
format will prevail! Nice.
