I just found out by accident that I could play back 720p recorded tape (with JVC HD1) on HDR-FX1. Just to be sure if anyone missed that feature like I did.
View Full Version : FX1 can read HD1(0) 720p tapes! Kaku Ito December 22nd, 2004, 04:18 AM I just found out by accident that I could play back 720p recorded tape (with JVC HD1) on HDR-FX1. The HDV spec calls for 720P and 1080i, so for recorders and players to conform to HDV spec, they needs to support both types of HD formats. Dylan Pank December 22nd, 2004, 06:56 AM I believe the HD1 & HD10 are also able to play back 1080i material. I think it's a requirement of HDV equipment that it handle both formats in playback, (but not recording/shooting). Kaku Ito December 22nd, 2004, 09:24 AM I think I read it in the spec. sheet before I bought it, but it's nice to see that it is working :). The JVC predates HDV by about six months, there was no HDV 1080i when the JVC was released. Heath, can you check that? David Newman December 22nd, 2004, 01:42 PM The Sony FX1/Z1 can play HD1 tape through the component outputs only. So don't sell your JVC camera if you want to digitally edit footage your have shot at 720p. Barry Green December 22nd, 2004, 02:02 PM So for clarification, you're saying that the FX1 cannot firewire transfer 720p footage? David Newman December 22nd, 2004, 02:11 PM Yes I am. We were surprised to. Davi Dortas December 22nd, 2004, 02:24 PM What about the Z1? David Newman December 22nd, 2004, 02:44 PM I believe it is the same on the Z1, but as there are no production Z1 units yet, so Sony may implement this feature. Note: I doubt it is a high priority for Sony. |
