Any suggestion to increase the output gain form the XL-1s headphone jack? I have it at max and the volume is not what I would like to hear.

If you're using an xlr mic you may need to adjust the levels on camera... or set it to audio. I've actually had to replace AA batteries in my shotguns... I also have a mono to stereo adapter for when shooting with a mono mic on one channel...

I also since not a long time have an XL1s, and I noticed it first too, the headphones were so quiet I thought it was broken! But now, at the maximum I hear it, but it is indeed quiet.
I can't help you though, sorry.
Good luck!

On the DVX we heard many complaints about low headphone volume; I'm assuming it's a similar issue as to the XL1. With the DVX, the headphone jack was mated (impedance-wise) to professional headphones, such as the Sony MDR-7506. When used with consumer headphones, the volume was very low, but when used with the MDR-7506's there was plenty of volume.

So it may be a simple ohm impedance issue, which would be solved by getting a more-matched set of headphones.

Or, you could get a headphone amplifier. I believe people have used the Boostaroo with success: www.boostaroo.com

Is a sennheiser good? I already have one, and I use it now on the XL1S, I just wanted to check. I still find it to be relatively quiet. It's a Sennheiser HD-570, I bought it to use with my stage piano, but when I got my XL1S I decided to use it for it.
