hi is there any magnification when using the mini35... if not... why not?

i recently bought a lens (nikon AF) just to test it. i took of the standard xl1s lens and held it in front, if i hold it properly (very close) i can get a clear focus.... but the magnification looks quite immense. so when it is secured (like with a mini35), why is there no magnification?

thanks- (btw, please explain in clear terms, im a tad slow on these things)

thanks-

you're not shooting through the lens... with the mini35 you're recording off an image relayed through the lens to the glass... a telecine basically.... no magnification.

ooooh thanks!!

i held up a ground glass at the lens and WOW omg i get what you mean by projected image, its the most agamzing thing ever.

i am one mere step away. how do you get the lens-less xl1s to focus on the ground glass?

so ive got my xl1s without any lens on.... i hold that ground glass as close to it as possible and start moving further and further away, no luck.... how does the mini35 do it? what can i do to get it to focus on the ground glass? (what do i add in between?)

thanks a bunch

how do you get the lens-less xl1s to focus on the ground glass?
It isn't lens-less. The mini35 adapter includes a lens, a special-purpose relay lens that focuses the ground-glass image onto the CCD's.

You would have to do the same thing. You would have to use some sort of relay lens.
