DV Networking Open House
In New York City (Free)

Come and meet active, creative and resourceful people from the DV film community.
DV Networking Open House is a new forum where people from the DV community can meet, network and share experiences in every aspect of DV filmmaking.
DV Networking Open House will consists of a variety of different people: Experienced independent filmmakers, people with a lot of technical knowledge of DV cameras (Canon XL1S etc), producers, directors, sound people, light people, actors, screenwriters, editors and many more.
Hopefully, this forum will lead to the establishment of smaller production groups or crews, which will meet more frequent for production.
It is the ambition to meet at least every two months. But we may decide to meet more frequent.
DV Networking Open House will be focused on six main areas.
- Networking
- Equipment
- Pre-Production
- Production
- Post-Production
- Screening.
Below you will find some of the topics that will be discussed:
NETWORKING:
- Meeting other filmmakers, actors, producers, screenwriters, sound people, directors of photography, editors etc.
- Sharing ideas for screenplays, feature films, documentaries, reality shows etc.
EQUIPMENT:
- DV cameras (Canon XL1S and others)
- Lenses, filters, matte boxes, creating film look
- Microphones and sound recording
- Lighting
PRE-PRODUCTION:
- How to budget and finance your project
- Practical aspects (insurance, permits, scene breakdowns)
- How to assemble a film crew
PRODUCTION:
- Casting and auditioning actors
- How to get the most out of your actors
- Logistics
POST-PRODUCTION:
- Which Non-Linear Editing system should I use?
- Composing score
- How to market your film
- Authoring DVD
- Internet video streaming
SCREENING:
- Screenings of the members’ work (VHS, DVD or Internet) where people can get feed back on their work and explain how they did it.
