I've been looking around London for the best deal on an XL2. So far the best I can get is £3150 with the straight one year warranty. Can anyone suggest anything better than this.
Thanks in advance Stephen

I've just spotted on the XL2 forum on DVXuser.com that you can buy the XL2 For £2800 from Globalmediapro. Has anyone any experience of this online shop?

Hi
I kind of have experience of them!
Co-incidently their London "Office" (which is actually a house to keep thier overheads down) is 3 mins walk from my house
I rang them up and asked if I could come in and buy a case for my XL2, and he said that would be fine.
He has a very business-like manner, so he is not open to being your friend.
Also the reason why the XL2 is so cheap is that it is an import from Japan. It is a full PAL XL2. The only issue is from a warranty front. It is not officially supported by Canon here, however he says that he will deal with that (ie take the camera back to him and he'll get it sorted with Canon), whether it will be a simple as that if an issue does ever arise you never know!
If I had not already bought my XL2, I would have probably got it through him.

the whole "he will sort it out" running a business like that from a house seems way to risky with an expensive bit of kit like an XL2.
Warranty issues means it will go back to Japan for fixing and how long is that going to take?
We just bought a UK spec XL2 from Park Camera for £3,399, used them a lot for photo gear, always good service.

I would definitely be weary of the whole bring "back to me and I'll take care of it." I am in the US but I had to return my XL2 only 2 weeks after purchase. My camera was a US model with full US warranty with obvious major defects (24 and 30P were smearing so bad they were unusable) and we still had a hard time getting Canon to even look at it much less replace. We eventually did get a brand new camera but the process we had to go through to get it was not pretty. Just thought I would share that. Good luck!

Pixmania is good, I bought a dvd writer from them, and my nephew bought his panasonic GS400 from them.

Yeah I also bought my original Sony Trv50 from them 2 years ago. Good service and price. My only gripe is both my Sony and Canon were shipped with european power plugs so i had to get the screwdriver out and swap them over. Incidently they do say they will supply a European to UK power adaptor free of charge but you do have to ask for it.

So that means they are imports and not covered by UK warranty then!

They are covered by a Manufacturers European warranty and then by the extended 1 year warranty. They need to be returned to Pixmania in France.

Stephen - I got a pretty good deal down Totten Court Road...knwo how dodgy that might sound but it is the real deal - fully unopened box, full warranty etc. and I've shot on it for the last month and it seems to K.A. just fine...
I got the XL2 body, standard lens (20X) and also a 3X Wide angle, car charger, a couple of filters and extra long-life battery for £4100....however you do seem to have done a hard haggle on getting £3100 did you say???
