hey there all you incredible geniouses out there working on these awesome homebuilt 35 adapters! i too would love to finally come up with the ultimate alternative so we could all have that look we all are persuing! anyway, i was shaving with my new razor yesterday and it suddenly hit me! i may have been standing there with the answer in my hand.... my razor! it the new gillete razor with a vibrating motor in the handle called the M3 power razor. the is a standard blade type razor with a very small motor in the handle that vibrates the blade as you shave. now i figure that because it is so small and light that it could be used to vibrate a ground glass and still be insulated enough to minimize any noise or external shake it might produce.

The brave lived and died early in the piece. It is not a design dead-end.

If the action is an orbiting action, fine, but if it is a recriprocating action and it very likely is, it won't work unless you can get a motor which can be slaved to a sync signal extracted from the videocam, so that with each half frame scan, the groundglass is actually moving and not at rest.

The electronics and engineering involved is complicated and too much for the average hammer, chisel, screwdriver and pliers jockey to mangle together on his kitchen table

With a recip groundglass running wild and free, you will get periodic events of the groundglass texture coming into sharp detail.

The other issue which would not be impossible to solve but difficult is the noise.
