Dan Lahav November 10th, 2003, 02:18 AM I'm located in San Diego, CA. If you're filming and need an extra hand, shoot me an email! BTW I am a total newbie that would like some exposure to the filming world. Please no lame tasks like getting people food and bringing coffee. I want something valuable so I can ->LEARN<-
Guest November 10th, 2003, 04:06 PM What you got??
Guest November 10th, 2003, 11:56 PM I live on the north side of Chicago in Andersonville.

Andrew Koenig November 11th, 2003, 12:11 PM First off there is no pay or rental fee, so if that's not your thing, I apologize, but that's the way it is.
I am a member of Group 101 Films(www.group101films.com), a short film collective, and am looking for a DP with the AGDVX-100 for my latest short here in Los Angeles.
The story is about a young man facing personal crises during a night on magic mushrooms.
Planning three night shoot on and around Dec 8th; using full-moon light for exterior night shots.
One of my shorts aired on AMC for their Monster Fest this past Halloween.
If interested, I will forward you the script and we can discuss the project.
Best,
Andrew

Aaron Rosen November 12th, 2003, 01:50 AM So when does the next one get under way?
Mark Argerake November 13th, 2003, 09:21 AM At the risk of sounding like an ass, I gotta say that's not the best attitude.
If you truely are a newbie and are looking for exposure you're best bet is to get yourself on a set doing whatever you can. Just being there and seeing how it all comes together is invaluable, even if you are handing coffee to everyone. You can learn by observing and asking questions. Refusing to do some basic newbie PA responsiblilities, you're putting a chip on your shoulder which may deter a crew from considering you one of the team and since filmmaking is a team sport and all about collaberation, I doubt you'll learn as quickly as you like.
Jason Casey November 14th, 2003, 03:38 PM Just letting everyone know if you are looking for a videographer or an extra cameraman in the Madison Wisconsin area please let me know, I am dying to do some real work! I have a GL2, Vegas video 4 for editing as well as a lot of other things at my disposal. I have a degree in Radio and TV boradcasting from the Madison Media Institute and a lot of experience. Jim McQuaid November 15th, 2003, 12:59 PM I am beginning production planning for an indie short (but well organized!) to be shot in Raleigh and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Photography will happen in January through March 2004 (but only weekends or evenings) I want to shoot several scenes with a two-camera setup - I have to have a GL2 (or maybe XL1) to match my GL2 without a lot of screwing around. If you are experienced or interested in learning please contact me via jim @ turnipvideo.com. You can also check out my web site, www.turnipvideo.com. Thanks.
Dan Lahav November 17th, 2003, 01:57 AM Mark, you're absolutely correct...

Jim Quinlan November 18th, 2003, 02:59 PM Good thing I didn't see this post a few weeks earlier.
We just drove to Madison Wisconsin from Florida (a last minute project) to shoot some footage for a FOX news story. It turns out my wife and I had a great time in Madison and the trip was fantastic. We fell in love with that town.
Anthony Joy November 19th, 2003, 10:10 AM I live in northwest Ohio, but my production company also has a Cleveland office, which we work out of as well. We generally get our talen from Cleveland, etc.
We are working on several projects next year and we are looking for cameraman, DP's, and some sound people as well, since most of our crew has recently left to pursue other careers. Check out www.ardentonline.com if you're interested.
Like most indie films, we only offer copy, credit, meals.
Carlos E. Martinez November 21st, 2003, 06:08 PM If anyone is planning to shoot DV in Brazil please let me know.
Can help you in Argentina too, but my residence is in Rio de Janeiro.

Andreas Fernbrant December 1st, 2003, 06:19 PM I'm in need of some help.
As you might figure out from my contact information I'm from Sweden. In Sweden we speak Swedish and not English. So when we speak English it sounds funny.
So I'm turning to you American people. I need some help with a short short speaker vioce for my next short movie. You will get credits but as I don't know the economic situation yet I can't really say if I can offer any payment.
The thing I need is someone that speaks fluid american english to say some simple lines. The intended use will be as a radio host vioce. (Between songs) 3 lines max! Something like: This was "artist name" with "artist song" stay tuned for some yada yada yada... That's all!
If you feel up for it and can produce good quality sound please contact me! You don't need to have any special voice. Just the ability to wanting to help out and basic understanding on how to record sound.
Thanks!
Andreas
Mike Rehmus December 1st, 2003, 07:27 PM Friend of mine just called up to complain that he had assembled a crew, cast, equipment and was all ready to yell, "Action." when the lead actress ran off the set yelling, "I can't do this!"
Too bad he didn't have an understudy.
Oh, and several other major characters have committments that will not allow them to continue past the first of the year.
Anybody know of a hot late-teens, early-twenties Northern California actress that wants to step in? I don't know what the script is but at the beginning, the young lady is Caucasian and then becomes African-American.
Please send me an email if you know of anyone.
Stephanie Gaultney December 1st, 2003, 07:33 PM Work with a dedicated crew on a 30 minute digital suspense in December 2003!
We are looking for a lighting designer who uses their own equipment and has some experience lighting digital video to look like film. Specifically we're looking for a designer who knows lighting to gives each shot a new dimension without getting too far from realistic visuals. I know subtle lighting design is one of the toughest arts to master on a tiny budget production but I'm hoping there's some talented people out there who are interested!
Please contact us at bansheechapter@yahoo.com ASAP

Stuart Kupinsky December 2nd, 2003, 07:45 PM If you don't get someone [with more free time] by Sunday, I'll do it, assuming you don't need true radio voices. I'm assuming about 5 minutes of just saying a few phrases and sending you the .wav or mp3?
I have an AT4073a or AT4071a mic and will record onto my vx2000 through an XLR adaptor. Is that ok? What phrases do you want? Am I a radio DJ? Am I happy? Slow, fast, etc.?
Andreas Fernbrant December 3rd, 2003, 05:32 PM Hi Stuart, I've already got one. But if that does not work out I'll contact you.
Thanks!

Tom Chamberlin December 15th, 2003, 02:28 PM I have a bunch of Mini-DVs (shot by different people on different cameras in different lighting conditions) and I need put them all together with uniform lighting and sound. Lots of brightening and boosting.
I know to go cheap you go where the pornographers go. So, I called the place I used for my student films and they've sold all the equipment.
Where, in Los Angeles, can I go to ride levels for a couple of hours without breaking the bank?
Eddie Jackson December 15th, 2003, 06:11 PM Hello all.
I live in the Los Angeles area and I am seeking DV camera work. I have a GL2 with some equipment (professional tripod, monopod, Wide Angle converter) and a Glidecam 2000. If anyone is looking for help on any upcoming shoots I would love to work.
Thanks.
I shot a very well known musician a few weeks ago for a DVD release.

Chris Hurd December 16th, 2003, 07:57 PM It's probably much less expensive for you in the long run to simply upgrade your home computer, capture the video and do all the work yourself on your own time.

I know. But there's a deadline involved. And iMovie is only helping so much.

Leo Daedalus December 17th, 2003, 10:29 AM I'm looking to help out on DV projects in Seattle with someone who doesn't mind me asking questions and actively learning the ropes, etc.
I actually have a fair amount of video experience, having made a number of zero-budget features as a youth in the 80s. But I was using consumer VHS gear, editing on U-matic, and generally undisciplined about the tech/craft of serious videography.
I'm a sharp, reliable, quick learner with extensive creative background (I've done video, been a professional musician, done graphic and web design, writing...) and technical background (e.g. just finished a BS in computer science at UW).
Now I'm looking to get back into video, with an eye toward both documentary and artistic work. I want to learn the tech/craft more rigorously, and my experience is that nothing beats learning directly from people with real experience.
You can email me at:
dv [at] metaplastic.com
Ciao,
Leo
Glenn Gipson December 19th, 2003, 09:41 AM I’m looking for a NO-Budget (meaning I can pay next to nothing) special effects artist for the Spring of 2004 in New Jersey. I will be shooting a Horror Film, and will be in need of effects such as dissected humans and maybe some “monster” face make up effects. If anyone is interested please drop me an E-mail at: gcgipson@yahoo.com Thanks!
Mark Austin December 19th, 2003, 12:53 PM Requesting submissions for the soundtrack & sound beds for a reality television series to be shot in 2004. It will be shot documentary style, in remote locations throughout the US, and chronicle the lives of a unique group of people.
I need Americana, cowboy, local, and western type stuff, but if you think you have something I should listen to send it! I'm looking for something unique! I'm looking for both gritty emotional tracks as well as uplifting music. I don't necessarily need "twang" but should be modern "regional", "cowboy" or "western" type music.
For sound beds pretty much anything goes EXCEPT electronica, it must be organic!
It should be broadcast quality (no cussing).
We have a VERY limited budget! I want original music for the show, but can't afford to pay huge sums for licensing etc.
The not so fine print: We are going to air our show on RFD TV, it has 23 million subscribers, and we have been talking to Outdoor Life Network (OLN), which has about double that.
If you allow us to use your music we will give you credit in our exit roll (advertising you to millions) along with a link on our website, and pay the standard (ASCAP/BMI) royalties for artist(s) & writer(s). Here is your chance to be heard by millions of new listeners, and get paid for it.
Please MAKE SURE you include your contact information (name & email or phone number) on everything you submit. If the your music gets reviewed separately from your press kit and it doesn't have your name & number on it we may not be able to contact you. A CD is the preferred media for submission.
Due to the nature of the project and time constraints, I will not be able to contact everyone who submits. I will not be able to return any materials you provide, so please don’t send masters or originals, a copy is fine. If selected I will contact you and I may request additional materials at that time.
Please send submissions to:
Tele.0.Logic Productions,
4242 Law St., Houston,
Texas, 77005-1036
Please email questions to:
Mark.Austin@markaustin.com
We already have RFD TV lined up and OLN wants to see a pilot. We will start shooting and editing the pilot in January and February.
Thanks!!! Mark Austin
p.s. I'll be needing to hire camera & audio crew too, I'll post more information as our locations get scheduled.
Patrick MCMurray December 22nd, 2003, 01:24 PM as we all hopefully have figured out by now, the first step in a short film project is a story... or at least an idea. i have neither.
please help. this will be in the extremely low to NO-budget range so dont expect pay til AFTER we win at sundance and miramax buys it... [dont hold your breath] not many actors, no elaborate costumes, no exotic locations (except an arcade or mini golf, ihave access to those). Think along the lines CLerks, or even resivoir dogs. one main set, cast of about a dozen. special effects: maybe... SLC punk level of effects... not matrix or even fight club. if you just have ideas email me
woodsmith111@yahoo.com
i do have writing skills... just not enough.
im in Sacramento CA. if all you want to do is write, then it doesnt matter where you are.

John Locke December 27th, 2003, 09:20 PM Anyone living in the Tokyo area who is interested in auditioning for roles or being considered for crew positions in an upcoming "episodic" project, please contact me by clicking the "e-mail" button below.
Formal auditions will be held on January 10 at a venue to be announced. Pre-production is already in progress and filming is set to begin the first week of March.
This is a rather large ensemble cast, male and female, young and old, Japanese and foreign with 10 leading characters and a host of secondary characters...so audition applications will be accepted from everyone. Actors with additional talents (singing, dancing, musical performance) will be considered for the principle roles.
We're just now assembling the crew and everyone will be considered since this is a rather large project. If you have no experience but a lot of enthusiasm, contact us...we'll find something for you.
Details of the production are being kept secret for the moment, but the general storyline involves a group of talented, creative people who aren't making any headway on their own, so they decide to band together to see what they can accomplish. The real story, though, is the relationships between the people involved and how they manage to cope with Japanese/foreign cultural differences, different styles, hopes, and dreams, rejections and failures, etc.
Writers who feel they have their finger on the pulse of relationships complicated by culture and language differences, Tokyo life, etc. are invited to apply for participation on a "per episode" basis.
I know there are some Tokyonians here at DVinfo...so contact us!
John Hudson December 29th, 2003, 03:26 PM I live in North County San Diego and own the Pani DVX100-24p. I am looking for someone who is of like minded interests.
I am 33, married with child and have a full-time job (start up company) that is not related at all to film which means I have obligations and responsibility. It also means I am my own boss and do have somewhat of a flexible schedule. In my spare time, I just want to write, shoot, direct...
I want to make films. Hopefully you can bring something to the table above and beyond desire. If you have equipment I'm lacking, that would only help matters. Besides the DVX I have a Bogen tripod kit and am looking to get additional accessories throughout this year.
I have a computer that is fast enough (DELL Pent 4) for NLE but do not yet own any NLE worth a damn. I hope to get VEGAS or BLADE for the Native 24p aspect.
My favorite kinds of films are sci-fi, horror, actio,. thriller. I basically just want to entertain. I have no political agenda here. I am looking for someone who wants to make films and collaborate with me. We can both write, produce, direct for festivals and DVD.
Again, I own the DVX. Maybe you own one as well? (2 DVX shoot would be great) but if you do not, that is okay. Hopefully you can bring other needed items to the table.
Send me an email or reply here please.
Patrick MCMurray December 29th, 2003, 04:45 PM just ordered my GL2. hoping to start a no or extremely low-budget digital film soon

Patrick MCMurray December 29th, 2003, 05:09 PM with a story like that, im surprised no one has asked to see it yet!
<not sarcasm, i swear!> ill be the first. did your shroom trip get off the ground?
