Hello all. We've just finished filming a short called At Confession. All dialogue has been recorded. We are interested in seeking the services of a sound designer/audio engineer who can master and clean up our sound.

If you're available these next few weeks please contact
bradNOSPAM@fusionarena.com for further details.

(remove the "no spam" of course- have to avoid the spam spiders which peruse through forums like this).

Thanks guys.

Hello! For those of you who perhaps outsource your editing projects (summer is a busy season for some, after all!) I may be just the person for you!! I live in the Atlanta area, and I have extensive editing experience as a freelancer, namely with weddings and cotillion/debutante balls (using Adobe Premiere)
If you need an extra hand in those editing projects, and you live in the Atlanta area, look me up, please:

I am looking for projects to shoot in Central Florida area (Space Coast is local)
I have been working hard to perfect my Glidecam skills and am looking for any projects that might be in need.

Sony PDX10 (wide screen is nice!)
Glidecam 2000
able to leap not so tall buildings in just a few bounds

Shot mostly sports (surf, skate, bike) and a little music footage. But I would like to increase my exp. into other types of shooting.

Stick around. I may be needing some help towards the end of summer. Working on a feature length comedy/thriller screenplay now. If all goes well, I want it shot by October. Do you have a demo reel?

I need a shooter in Visalia California for the weekend of the 25th and 26th. The job is to shoot a series of seminars to be presented at a model engineering exhibitition.

Model Engineers build, among other models, those small locomotives you ride behind in the park. They build interesting models like running V-8's that measure around 10 inches front to back.

I don't have all of the details yet but I'm looking for an experienced shooter that hopefully lives in the area and wants to make some extra money. I'll supply the gear unless that person has a DV or DVCam camera they would prefer to use and it is good in low and random light. Must be willing to shoot Sony tape in the camera.

Contact me and we can discuss the details and the compensation. I might be willing to spring for a room at the hotel and food for the right out-of-town person plus a little mileage. It's all negotiable, but I don't make a ton of $ so this won't make you rich but if you like adult male toys, this is a great place to be. You'd have time to look around.

Visalia is down around Bakersfield so I guess it qualifies as Central California.

Michael, I am hoping to work on my first project also. Don't mind working on a 0 budget movie at all. I live in Boca, not far at all. Let me know.

Its not to bad...We have a pretty good football team and a poor hockey team. But the work is good. Oh it still gets way too freaking cold.....It affects your thinking, here it is the begining of summer but we upstaters think of it as the last 3 months before we have snow again....I would rather be in Rats mouth.

Actually I am originally from Tampa (Home of the greatest team in the NFL) After much consideratation I have decided that I prefer Tampa

Joe Carney

I spent 6 winters in the Chicagoland area. The last one dipped to 75 below zero wind chill. I prefer rats mouth too, though local lore refers to it as mouth of the river. they be kind of uppity down this way.

I like the idea of getting Florida video people together, though we can probably use this forum pretty easily for this purpose--we just have to make some posts here relevant to this group getting together.
We could either start this with some actual projects some of us are working on which would lend interest to the rest, or we could come up with some workshops where some of us could show of techniques they have mastered, which could be valuable to others....What do you think would be the best way to start something like this?

K. Forman
June 20th, 2003, 06:07 PM
I would like to get together and toss out creative ideas with other proffessionals... But most of you folk live 2-3 hours south of me, a few are closer.

But, if we were to have a round table... Just think of what could be done with all the talent and equipment :)

Dan I understand what you're saying but I don't think DVINFO is a place for a regional user group. I mentioned yahoo because it's easy to setup a specialized group there. Could be somewhere else for that matter.
More importantly, just trying to network and help each other out with projects and such. We could certainly continue to post things here though.

I figure, why should the FCP and AVID folks have all the fun?

Sort of pool talent and resources for Music Videos, short and feature length stuff, maybe even commercials. Vegas is already making some great headway in the Wedding Video market.

My son says he knows at least 6 new Vegas users locally and they are psyched and ready to do something.

And Keith, I'm hoping to go up to Orlando Friday and hook up with Dylan. He's had a pretty hard time with all the rain in Central FL messing up his schedule.
Still..if he has time and you are up to it, I plan on going up there Friday, you are welcome to join in on the fun
(and anybody else for that matter, there is always something to do in and around Orlando). I have a feeling Dylan will have some great stories to tell on this one.

K. Forman

We did warn him about the rain :) Since I haven't heard from him, I assume he got his hands on some wireless mics? As for Friday, I don't know... we'll have to see.

Hi Joe,
Fine by me, I'd like a regional group here. If yahoo is easy and someone wants to set that up, consider me in.

I use Vegas Video, a gl1 ( still about to get an XL1 in addition), and my biggest interest is in making better music videos.

I do alot of chromakey work right now, for infomercials, and the other areas I am most able to "contribute" in will be Internet Streaming and DRM.

Looking forward to getting together with a bunch of Florida video guys ( and girls if there are any :-)

Joe, I don't think I could handle watching another forum. I frequent 3 now and that takes up a lot of my time.

However .... I agree that there are a lot of people with like interests in Florida. We should channel our resources to create a movie or something.

BTW, I did get my DVX100 and the quality is awesome.

Looking for someone experienced in script breakdown and scheduling to go through a feature horror script. I have meetings set up with investors and time has gotten completely away from me and I need help getting ready.

I need a completed breakdown and schedule before July 13th.

Sorry there is no pay for this just credit. Let me know what you think.

Working title: DEADSVILLE

Logline: A gang of bank robbers hold up in a deserted Texas ghost town after a big heist. When the sun goes down, a band of gunslingers from the town's past are resurrected as a hungry pack of flesh-eating zombies. A showdown ensues between the heavily armed modern-day crew and the supernatural denizens of Deadsville.

Jim, I agree. the problem is most of us are kind of spread out. FL maybe skinny, but it sure is very very long. BTW Jim, how was spring break this year?

So far, all the FL folks are saying yeah, so I will look into it.
Yahoo is an option, but the down side is the advertiseing, and since you have to give an email address in order to post, we all know what that means.

Before I start something, would like ideas on what type of issues to cover.
1. Should it be FLA vegas users only?
2. Should it include users of Acid Pro and Soundforge?
I only say that because it is quite common for people to have all three apps. (Like me).

More interested in making movies/shorts/commercials with other vegas/sofo product users instead of a purely tech support forum.

The only issue I see here, is are there enough Vegas/sofo users in FL to make it worth the effort. I'm talking we need more than 10 or 12 to do this. Otherwise we should just exchange emails and go from there.

So if you other vegas users know yet more vegas users... try to conduct your own poll and find out what the interest is. Then get back here and let me know. Same for AcidPro and Soundforge users.
Lets go out and scare the Mac folks, hehehe. Lets get our shot on IFC,Sundance and Bravo to tell people all they need is Vegas and a video camera to make a movie.

Independent producer and director looking for short screenplays (under 60 minutes) and treatments to be considered for production in the Bay Area. We will be accepting screenplays of all genres that could be realistically shot and assembled on a tight budget. This is a great opportunity for all the struggling writers out there that wish to see their short come to life.

Deadline for submission is August 1st. Please send all screenplays to dpmgroup@sbcglobal.net in the form of an attachment (Microsoft Word Document or .PDF file). For contact purposes, make sure to include your name, email address and phone number (optional).

We look forward to reviewing your work and hopefully we will have the chance to collaborate on a project specifically designed for film festival distribution.

Aim for the stars and beyond…

Will the writer be paid, or is this solely an 'independent collaboration'?

Trevar Mazza
June 30th, 2003, 12:34 PM
Initially we would like to develop the script into a short as an independent collaboration--meaning no exchange of money. However, if the film is purchased as is or if the idea is purchased to be made into an actual full length feature, then the writer will most definitely be reimbursed for their work based and will be invited to extend the script.

This is an opportunity for a symbiotic relationship; we have the equipment, talent, direction and funds to produce a short, but what we don't have is a solid script.

Thanks for the question...

Nancy Scott

A friend and I are new to the world of dv. We stumbled on this list and it seems to be a tremendous resource. Lots of knowledgeable people and good advice in the water here!

They say that all art comes from suffering and since we're both writers we've decided to really torture ourselves by making a short film. The film would be a stand alone segment from a full length feature film script we've been working on.

It goes without saying that we have zero experience, zero budget and zero cast and crew. Save for a recently acquired XL1s, Adobe Premiere and our PC's, it's another zero in the equipment department.

We're looking for collaborators in Northern VA/ Washington D.C.who would be interested in working with us to put together this film and possibly a few others down the line. If our first experience
in doing this stinks, then we'll probably be back for more punishment. Sound, lighting and production...come on down!

Drop us a line off-list if you'd like to talk.

One of our DVi sponsors needs a helping hand at the upcoming DV Expo show next week. This is a paid gig lasting three days which basically involves working the booth on the tradeshow floor. The dates are July 9, 10, 11 and there's more show info at http://www.dvexpo.com/east/. The position is available to a DVi member currently living in the NJ or NYC or LI area and should not be a stranger to this message board (preferably at least a Regular Crew member). Contact me via email for more details if you're interested and qualified. Thanks,

Regarding the South Florida regional group, with interest in Vegas video, Sound Forge, Acid, and of course shooting, lighting, etc, I have a suggestion :
Several of you are north of Palm Beach, several are south.
There is an Internet Cafe just east of the Lantanna rd exit on I-95 ( this is just south of West Palm, but north of Boynton Beach) .

This cafe has a big Plasma screen TV we can play DVD's of our work on, and 3 computers we could potentially load Vegas and other programs on. The Internet Cafe is owed by a friend of mine, so I know we could do this. The cafe has great coffee, a really nice meeting place atmosphere, and easily big enough for up to 2 dozen people to have a meeting.

If you guys like the idea of having some meetings at this place, where we can do some collaboration/show & Tell/ techniques in editing, play videos we have done on plasma screen, etc, then let me know. I could certainly shoot a video of the cafe and place it on a stream server so you can see what this place looks like.

The cafe will like this, because having Internet user groups visiting the cafe will be an effective model for them to look towards for future marketing.
Everything would be free, as long as several of us don't mind buying coffee :-)

And for the non-Vegas using heretics, there could still be plenty of technique sharing which could benefit in both directions :-)

Aaron, by HB do you mean Hermosa Beach...?

If so, you may want to check out the Instant Films festivals that are presented every few months in LA. We are always building a database of skilled and creative hands to help with the 8 films that are made over a weekend, and I can tell you that it is a creative rush. Our website is www.instantfilms.tv. Check out some of the films, come to the next festival in August, and if it's something you are interested in, drop us a line and we can talk further.

HB = Huntingotn Beach. A little south but not too far.

Talk to you soon.

hey people, I posted for a FCP editor awhile ago to join our team on an ambitious project and a couple of people answered. due to a computer failure I lost the info so if still interested please send it to me again. also if you didn't answer the first time here is a second chance, you don't get too many of those! the job is unpaid upfront but for the right individual(s) there is a chance at owning a % of the project. to see what the project is you can check out the website at www.streetsoaps.com. looking for someone based in NY or close by...or if you are the bomb wherever! thanks

Howdy -

I am mostly free this summer and would be interested in giving a hand to anyone with a serious shoot.

I can add in my GL1 + mics. I've worked on PCA shows and produced a few of my own. I am interested in improving my technical knowledge of putting together complete programs and especially editing technique (Premiere for now, FCP in future).

Sincerely,

Well if you still have things going in a year or so maybe I will catch up with you guys some time. Hopefully I will be back in Tampa or Orlando by this time next year.

I dont get it the years I spent in Central FL I never found many people who were into DV. But now after I am gone I find people. Just the luck huh.

BTW I have a small Productions company with a few PDX10s and a Premiere, Vegas, AfterEffects suite I also have FCP on the mac. My affilate in Tampa which I have full use over has a recording studio with ProTools and Emagic. I can mix and output Dolby Digital 5.1 and 7.1. I also have full access to the Keyboards samplers Soft Synths and Virtual perccusion. If you have any questions about the capabilitys of the studio feel free to ask. Oh BTW I dont expect to be paid unless work that I have a big part in makes a large amount of money

Thanks

Hi Y'all....I'm in Raleigh, new to this area and need a little help. Would someone PPAAA...LEASE consider donating the use of a lighting kit for one afternoon? The project I'm shooting is a 3 minute Habitat for Humanity/Wake County promo video. It is a simple talking head piece for which I need these lights (have not purchased a kit for our company yet...still deciding what is current best avenue), very brief, no outdoor high speed stuff to endanger your gear :-)

FYI I worked in the film biz for 10 years prior to moving here (please see resume at "http://www.fatcatmedia.biz/aboutus/rresume.html" & production details "http://www.fatcatmedia.biz/aboutus/details.html") so your gear will be in experienced hands. I will gladly give you a deposit and a tax credit receipt from HFH for an "in kind" donation.

BONUS: You will be credited in a video containing local and very possibly national celebrities from this area. Cannot reveal that info just yet (confidentiality agreement) but will provide you with a copy of the finished piece for your portfolio. I will also offer my services in return (good old fashion horse swap)...let me know what you need and I'll suggest where I can help. Your choice of service. Please email me with subject line "Light kit" to: "fatcatmedia@yahoo.com"

I'm particularly found of Arri kits and realize these are very expensive. Prefer
static lights over strobes.

cool Bob, sounds like we are starting to get somewhere.
I'm surprised at how many people don't want to meet. It's like they are hiding something. My son has found out the hard way, a lot of people down here claiming to be in the business, aren't.

Oh well.

Hah maybe I will fly down for this one. But seriously I should be in FL sometime late next month if you have a meeting while I am in town maybe I could stop by and form another reason to hurry up and move back.

I am always willing to help and I would love to be in a DV group. Like I said the only problem is that I wont be back for about another 10 months or so....I have to wait for my wedding next year.

Two possible ideas on this...1., We might need to let more people from the main DV I comunity know about this, assuming that the "Helping Hands" discussion is limited to a much smaller subset of people...2., Lets work on picking some video topics we can really benefit from by getting together. In other words, let start planning what we will talk about, what we will go over on the computers with Vegas et al, and what we will play on the Plasma screen TV to show finished products.

Also, the name of this meeting place I'm talking about is the "Daily Grind", located next to Body Dynamics on Lantanna Road less than half a mile from I-95, and a few hundred yards from Federal Highway. Its on the south side of the road.

I'm doing a shoot this weekend for a Mountain Bike DVD, but I'm crew on this. The production is being run by a good friend of mine, Robert Starling, of Starling Productions. Robert is like the "Time Share" video king. I can probably bring back some clips that show some neat videography that Robert and this crew have created.
