They don't list a phone number, that's kind of odd.. could you cross-check the address in a phone book, see if there's a company there?

I found a posting on Craigslist for it, so I was wondering if was legit. Your detective work seems to point in the scam direction.

There have been a number of these types of orgs going around in the 2d/3d art & design world. Most of them have been scams ranging anywhere from the usual run of the mill internet social engineering to taking ownership of your artwork as you're required to release it to the 'company' that hires you out.
A good indicator of the validity, or at the very least the expectations you should have of the group in question, is looking at where they look for their talent. Craigslist is all fine and good and lots of people do go there, but when you're targetting something specialized it's generally more advantageous to go where the specialized skills are. Targetting broadly gives the impression of either desperation or indifference to what you find (IMO).
