it's been a year and I know it is not supposed to work but has anyone kluged a 16mm lens onto the adapter? Just wondering.

Don't want to sell my 16mm stuff. Been holding out on random innovation....

Josh, it won't cover the frame. It'd be like looking through a toilet paper roll, a circular image in the middle and black all around.

yeah, I've popped a few on and seen that. I figured someone, industrious and availed with time, had come up with a solution incorporating a frensel and some duct tape...?

Oh well... Looking for super cheap and super fast cine-primes... Optars or sumpthin-somethin....

anyone? Chaz?

"super cheap and super fast" will likely only coincide if they are not so good optically (or actually hot property!)

Try the Russian lenses maybe?

I think I may go ruskie. I do worry that those Kinor or Konvas lenses won't fit... any first hand use Charles?

We have recently invested in a XL2 with a mini35 300. We keep running across 16 and super 16mm lenses with Arri Bayonet mounts. We have also run across Bayonet to PL mount adapters. Can we use these lenses on our mini35?

Not likely. The 16mm circle of illumination will be *way* smaller than the 35mm target frame size, meaning you'd just get a vignetted circle on the frame.

If the lens is PL-mount and designed to work on both 16mm and 35mm cameras, then yes it should work. But if it's designed specifically for a 16mm camera, it almost definitely won't work for a mini35 system.

uh... I've been spacing several 16mm c mount lenses out and they seem to be able to cover. I am still messing with the zoom but so far so good. Has anyone jury rigged this yet?

The reason being.....? price? or.....?
Is it not Canon/Nikon good enough? Why 16mm lens on a larger frame?

As to the question of why you would want to do this... is it because you have 16mm lenses on hand, Josh?

mostly because I have .9 angenieux primes for 16 and pulling focus with a 1.4 nikon is a B.

it would also save me $1000 for a pl ang. 25-250 (that's t3) and $250 for the adaptor... and another $250 for the bayo-pl adaptor....

when I have a c mount angenieux 12-120 on my shelf getting dusty...

Josh,

The 16mm format does not work on the Min35.
Take your 12-120 Angenieux, to see the real size of the image, all you have to do is close the iris to about T11 and have enough light on the scene to see that the image is limited to a small circle inside the 35mm frame.

i know... I was thinking to set it closer to the frame and while wouldn't zoom through get partial use of it.

If i didn't have so much going on I'd mess with it... was hoping someone else had by now...
