View Full Version : Sign Up For DVC 17!!!!
Lorinda Norton August 31st, 2009, 06:09 PM Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s time for a challenge! If you’re already a film maker or if you think you’d like to be one, here’s your best opportunity to jump in and see what you can do. It’s friendly, it’s fun, and it’s free thanks to Chris Hurd giving the DVC a home right here on DV Info.net –still the best video site ever!
*THIS* is going to be a fun round. Dylan and I would tell you to check out the rules at The DV Challenge: * Official Rules (http://thedvchallenge.blogspot.com/search/label/*%20Official%20Rules) but there are enough changes this time you’ll just have to wait for the start date and get it all fresh. (Actually, it could be that we haven’t decided on all the rules yet.) ;)
What is the start date, you ask? Well...
Start: Thursday, Sept. 10 you’ll get all the details and be off to do your thing.
Finish: Sunday, Oct. 11 you must have your entry uploaded and the link sent to thedvchallenge@gmail.com
Call us softies but just like last round you get FOUR weeks on this one! Not so much because you’ll need it but to increase the chances of people actually getting something completed. So if you can use all that time this will be your chance to knock our socks off!
No excuses (unless you’re going on a month-long safari) so sign up now and join the fun!
Lorinda Norton August 31st, 2009, 06:10 PM Ah yes, the prize. Leave it to our fabulous sponsor Guy Cochran of DVeStore at DVcreators.net (http://www.dvcreators.net/dvestore/) to donate a prize worth drooling over. Take a look at this:
DVcreator Location Sound Package 1 at DVcreators.net (http://www.dvcreators.net/dvcreator-location-sound-package-1/)
It’s their top selling audio kit - The DVcreator Location Sound Package 1!!
This kit includes the immensely popular RODE NTG-2 shotgun microphone, K-TEK Windmuff, RODE 10' Boom Pole, SM3 Shockmount along with Audio Technica Premium Cables!
You’ve heard it said over and over that in video audio is 70% of what you see...well, here’s a chance to add a sweet kit to your arsenal. And those of you who have done business with Guy know that he tests everything and hand-picks what he thinks is the best equipment for the price. You may have seen his tutorials or read his helpful comments here on DV Info.net. He’s a great resource and always ready to answer questions.
Many thanks to Guy for such a generous prize. It’s great added incentive for all of you to sign up! :)

Jeremy Doyle August 31st, 2009, 09:51 PM count me in. I like these month long ones even though I usually end up doing all the work in a couple days. At least with a month I can usually find a couple days!
Alex Chamberlain August 31st, 2009, 10:49 PM I'm with you too!
Lorinda Norton September 1st, 2009, 12:44 AM Hi Daniel,
This will be a challenge indeed; I don't know any actors.
You're pretty close to where my son is, who has "co-starred" in two of my entries. Too bad you can't look him up. ;)
If I'm guessing correctly about your occupation I think you will be able to find willing volunteers. Acting experience is not necessary!
William Gardner September 1st, 2009, 07:07 AM I'm in, hopefully...
Andrew Hood September 1st, 2009, 09:23 AM Time for another one... count me in.

Craig Yates September 2nd, 2009, 08:16 AM I'm in. Had a good idea for the last one but didn't manage to find the time to do it. I should have plenty now though, so I'll probably be short on ideas instead!
Jay Kavi September 2nd, 2009, 11:15 AM I need to get off the wall of shame so I'm in
Kevin Randolph September 2nd, 2009, 12:35 PM Why not... I'm in. I'll see if I a month is long enough to come up with a good idea... or if it's just long enough to always think I'll have a better idea tomorrow. ;-)

Charles Wannop September 3rd, 2009, 04:21 AM OK, Why the heck not?

Jay Kavi September 4th, 2009, 03:10 PM Sweet. Let's do this.
Joseph, how 'bout you sit this one out? Your messin' with up the voting curve :D
Dick Mays September 4th, 2009, 06:06 PM Joseph, how 'bout you sit this one out? Your messin' with up the voting curve :D
It's not a competition without Joseph! Bring on your magic act!
Robert Martens September 4th, 2009, 06:16 PM I bet that's the twist: "Joseph Tran not allowed, on account of being too good". Or maybe it's just "make a bad movie"; he'd never pull that off.
Lorinda Norton September 4th, 2009, 06:22 PM Or maybe it's just "make a bad movie"; he'd never pull that off.
...so much for that idea. Way to go, Robert; now I've gotta come up with a new twist.
;)
Robert Martens September 4th, 2009, 06:32 PM ;)
Whew! I missed that smiley face at first, almost thought you were serious for a minute there.
Lorinda Norton September 4th, 2009, 07:26 PM :) It wasn't there at first; I added it because I got worried someone might think I was being serious!
This is going to be an amazing challenge--looking over the list I'm getting really excited about the returning folks and also the fresh meat...I mean, blood. Fresh blood. (Gosh, both of those sayings look kind of creepy in print!) We're going to see some great stuff and have all kinds of fun.
If you're reading this and haven't signed up yet you've got until Thursday morning to make up your mind. Go for it!!

Mugurel Dragusin September 5th, 2009, 06:58 AM With all the good thoughts here, looks like Joseph might have some unfortunate accident :P

Again I'm more busy than a pack of monkeys on a pile of bananas, but I'll make something, even if it's an experimental 40 second film that nobody, including me, would understand.
Lorinda Norton September 9th, 2009, 10:46 AM Holy smoke! We start tomorrow! Might be time to firm up the plan.
One thing, sign up is CLOSING tomorrow with the announcement--none of this waiting to see what's up before you decide. So if you're gonna get in the game, do it now! :)
.
.
P.S. Great to see all of you guys--the new folks and the veterans. By the way, we've got three former DVC champs entered in this round...
Joseph Tran September 9th, 2009, 11:30 AM Good to see all the names here, new and old! Dick, Jay, Mugurel, thanks for the support, haha. And Robert, I may just take your advice and make a bad movie. That sounds like fun!
Hey, it hasn't stopped Hollywood from churning out some big stinkers lately. Who needs a script, right?
Dylan Couper September 9th, 2009, 11:49 AM There's very little chance I'll get anything done for it, but I'm signing up anyway. :)
Daniel Bates September 9th, 2009, 03:19 PM It's Thursday the 10th of September here in sunny Iraq! I can hardly wait for the assignment.
