I was just wondering if anyone has found a way to easily mount an optiuonal LCD(like the lilliput, etc) to the XL2. I assume some sort of hot shoe accessory, but I couldn't find one.

I have used the Accesory mounting bracket

I put a big wack of velcro on the back of the 7" lilliput screen, and velcroed it to the mounting bracket.

What's great is that the default angle the screen sits at on the bracket (angled slightly upwards) is actually very good. This is a great place to mount the monitor if you are shooting off a tripod!

I'm using the bracket to hold a Lithion Ion battery, and I didn't really think about the idea of using velcro. That is the universal aid.....except for Duct tape!

For those interested, the Lilliput does 4:3 and 16:9.

I fabricated the bracket below several years ago and still find it very useful. One advantage over mounting the monitor on the camera is that it always stays at the same angle of view no matter where the camera is pointed. It also pans with the camera so it is always in view. Made from a 1" wide piece of strap metal formed to shape in a vice and attached to the tripod head with a hose clamp.

Here are a couple of pictures of the enclosure I made to keep all the flying dust and dirt out of the camera while recording dirt-track races. It has also worked quite well.

So you can mount an LCD quite easily on top of the cam, where you'd usually place a light or something? If you get what I mean. Would it be problematic to place a monitor on a mount directly on top of the cam?
