I've scoured Panasonic's European websites for pro gear and have found no mention of the AG-DVX100 or any PAL-equivalent model.
Has anyone picked up any talk at trade shows about such a camcorder? I wonder what the different shooting mode options on it would be----both 24p and 25p and 50i?

Good question. Several people I know from Panasonic are here at WEVA. I'll ask them about this today.

Straight from the folks from Panasonic here at WEVA, a PAL version will be available "sometime next year." It will not have 24p since it is PAL, which is already 25p. Having both frame rates would be a bit redundant since a human being wouldn't be able to discern the difference the two anyway. So it will have 50i and 25p. Hope this helps,

Thanks, Chris, for digging out that information. I've always found that Panasonic people were much more open and eager to give you info on equipment than those of other companies. Odd, that the most tight company with product news is JVC, a fellow member of the Matsushita group.

This will be nice for the European users. The NTSC-land early-adopters of the AG-DVX100 progressive camcorder will be its Beta-testers. When the PAL models come out next year, the bugs should all be swatted.

they should of just made the camera versitile to PAL 25p as well...

For us NTSC users, This camera plays a remarkable role in DV technology, yet if you already have a PAL XL1, what would be the point on buying
a PAL AG VX100....
