I have just bought a Sennheiser ME66/K6 to go with my Canon XM1(UK name)/ GL1(i think thats the name of it in the states).

Does anyone know the best way to attach them?

If so, where can I get the stuff? Is it expensive?

Just to confirm that the XM1 is indeed the GL1 in the NTSC version.

I have no answer to your audio question, so I hope this little
bump will get that attention of someone that does.

If you mean - how do you mount it on the camera, most people use something like the Beyer shockmount.
Have a look at www.keene.co.uk and do a search for it. The mount isn't expensive.

Mount to the camera or a boom pole? The best of the mounts (IMO) is the K-Tek.

For the camera you'd use a KCAM-SM (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=326967&is=REG)

This or the KCAM-SSM attach directly to the camera shoe. It's worth the money.

I just checked Canford in the UK and the pricing is obscene. You may be better ordering it from B&H and having them ship it air parcel post.

That mic is awfully hot for your camera. You are in for a terrible time with distortion whenever anybody yells. If you are intent on recording to camera, turn on the attenuator at all times. Truthfully, you need double system sound. At the very least I'd buy a HiMD. Don't get me wrong. I love that camera, and haven't seen any reason to upgrade despite it's age. But it has pretty miserable sound -- no meter or manual gain.

Oh, you need an XLR adapter for both the GL1 or minidisc. Studio 1, Sign Video and Beachtek all make excellent products. Don't skimp on that.

Definitely get a -15 DB audio pad. A switcheable one that has various settings between -25 to -10 might be wise.
