This is my first expereiance with the PD170 on a real wedding and it has performed absolutely fantastic except for one minor observation. I noticed that when I went to post that there were waves introduced whenever panning up/down. Has anyone experienced this?

It was mid day with plenty of light. Typically outside and when the background was either trees or plants... Pan was done slowly. Shot in 4:3 mode and post editor project is set to 4:3.

Oh yeah.. one other note... I was using the wideangle lens that came with the camera... would that have anything to do with it?

What do you mean by "waves"? What shutter speed were you using? Was steadyshot turned on or off? You can view this info if you display the data code on your tape.

It may be that you had steadyshot on, a tool that should be turned off when you mount the camera on a tripod.

BTW, it is called Tilting when you move the camera around a horizontal axis (camera looks up and down). Panning is when you move the camera around a vertical axis (camera looks left and right).

Yep... Steady shot was indeed on... Spent alot of time before hand with running with manual iris / focus / and white balance and completely forgot about steady shot! Thanks.
