Many of you have heard that Apple dropped their Xserve Raid and suddenly this company named Promise Technology and their VTrak E-Class RAID Subsystem shows up on the Apple site seemingly taking it's place. XMiL Sequencer. converts an XML file exported from a Final Cut Pro timeline and turns it into an Avid Log Exchange (ALE) file. This file can then be imported into an Avid nonlinear editing system, turning the segments used in the FCP timeline into Avid master clips. Editor and author Rainier Standke will demo. The agenda has now been set for the 8th Annual FCPUG "SuperMeet" to be held Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the UCSF Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco, CA. Doors open at 4:30pm and presentations begin at 7pm and continue until 10PM. This SuperMeet promises to be the single largest gathering of Final Cut Pro users and Gurus during Macworld Conference and Expo SF.

The economy might be struggling, but this year's SuperMeet will be the largest in our history with twenty four companies showing off their wares. That says something about this community.

Scheduled to appear on stage, (subject to change) will be:

- Apple:
The latest on Final Cut Studio
- JVC:
Craig Yanagi of JVC will announce the world's first acquisition product developed especially for Final Cut post production. Come and be a part of this historic event.
- BlackMagic Design presents M. Dot Strange:
Filmmaker M.Dot Strange will bring his magic to the SuperMeet.
- Bruce Nazarian:
Blu-Ray on the Cheap. How to build a compatible Blu-Ray Disk and burn it on DVD-R media without a Blu-Ray burner.
- Christine Steele:
FCP Tips and Tricks
- Eric Escobar:
"Plug-Ins Won't Save You"
A plug-in package alone won't create the "look" of your movie. A "look" is a combination of preproduction, design, performance, camera work and post wizardry. Eric will show us how to deconstruct a "look" from a TV show or movie, and reconstruct it on-the-cheap.
- Yun Suh:
Clips from the documentary film "City of Borders" (Show and Tell)

Rounding out the evening will be the always raucous "World Famous Raffle" with over $40,000.00 worth of prizes to be handed out to several lucky winners.
300 "SuperBag" Goodie Bags filled with over $200.00 worth of learning resources will be handed to the first 300 people through the door. Food (snacks) and drinks will be available throughout the evening.

I wanted to let all digital filmmakers and FCP users who live in the UK and EU know that the first annual FCPUG SuperMeet is coming to London, England on 25 June, 2009.

We have booked the Great Hall at the Kensington Conference and Event Centre and are currently in the process of raising the necessary funds to put on this event.

For those of you who do not know, nor ever heard of a SuperMeet, they are essentially gatherings of Final Cut Pro editors, gurus and Mac-based digital filmmakers from throughout the world who use or want to learn to use Apple’s Final Cut Studio suite of applications, most importantly Final Cut Pro. The FCP UG Network’s mission is to build connections between Final Cut Pro users, filmmakers and professionals who wish to lead the digital filmmaking revolution. This event is a great opportunity to network and hang out with like minded folks, many of whom might be able to help you.

SuperMeets are held annually along side large trade shows such as Macworld in San Francisco, NAB in Las Vegas and IBC in Amsterdam. The agenda usually includes demos of new products, digital video tips and tricks, and filmmaker show and tells. In addition there are over two dozen vendors showing off their wares as part of what the organizers call the FCP Trade Show. In addition we give away thousands of dollars worth of "raffle" prizes as part of our "World Famous Raffle."

This is our first time in London and the first time we will not hold this event along side a trade show. We want to see if we can stand on our own 2 feet. We are confident we can.

Agenda will be announced in early June, but we hope we can count on many of you to get the word out as our marketing budget is pretty limited. Meaning we don't have a lot of money. We prefer to put out money into the event rather than about the event.

We have put up a web site and are updating it daily so please check in every so often to see where we are at.

FCPUG UK 2009 SuperMeet (http://www.lafcpug.org/UK_2009)

Tickets will go on sale on 18, May 2009 for only £10.99 each. It is important to us that we keep costs affordable for everyone including sponsors.

Thanks for any help you can give us and we are very excited to be coming to London. It's gong to be a great show and we hope many of you will attend.

Join us as we demo the new plug-in from Imagineer systems, Mocha for Final Cut.

Also Shane Ross and Matrox's Gabriel Mitri will demonstrate the new Matrox MXO2 MAX. They will show off the flexible I/O capabilities within the FCP workflow, as well as the new Faster-Than-Real-Time H.264 encoder built right into the box. Matrox will also give away a MXO2 Mini Max as part of the World Famous Raffle.

Metadata Explorer does two things: in the (free) demo form it let's you look at that hidden metadata and (optionally) save it out to an excel spreadsheet. Pay for the application and you can map the hidden metadata to editable FCP fields, so that it can be used inside FCP.
exceLogger let's you use the power of Microsoft Excel to log already captured clips. With exceLogger you export clips (as a Batch List) to Excel, and an XML file of your FCP project.
In Excel, add logging information and create new subclips until you're done.

Also filmmaker Steve Payne will show us clips and give us a primer on his brand new documentary, "Fresno."

The idea behind this software looked to me very attractive.
And I bought Mocha for FCP to find out that it does not work with FCP 7. I guess company should upgrade Mocha to be up to date with latest development in major applications (FCP 7 in particular). Do you have different experience?
How about Boris Motion tracker (although as I understand it has no plane tracking capability)?
