I'm looking to buy a simple to use NLE software. I've been looking towards pinnacle. I'm going to use the software to create a template for my golf business. I'm looking to burn this to a dvd or cd is possible. Not sure how much of a difference this will make in rendering times, ect...

I'm simply going to have a introduction ( 3o seconds ) followed by a message from the event spokesman ( 1 min).
I will have about 10 minutes of video instruction, followed by some pre filmed golf tips. The golf instruction will be done on another system and I think I would be able to transfer that to
a time line just as another video clip.

My main question is once I have rendered everything, would
replacing the video instruction for another cause rendering to become quicker since the rest of the timeline would not be changed at all. I'm looking for this to be a total of 15 minutes or less. Not sure how long to expect rendering to be. Would buring to a dvd be longer and cd be quicker?

With output to DVD everything needs to be re-rendered, no
way around that. If you are using effects and things like that
you might render the second part to a new AVI DV file to re-use
that and save time on that.

15 minutes encoding time for a 10 minute piece is doable,
depending on the MPEG2 encoding program you will be using.

A DVD is authored and then burned. Most authoring applications
have a movie only mode (ie no menu and such). Once you have
the workflow this should be doable under another 15 minutes
as well for a 10 minute piece. Even if you used a max bitrate
of 9.8 mbit/s you would still be slightly under 1 GB for the DVD
which should burn fast on today's burners.
