Canon has the page up (http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=325&modelid=10464#sdk) for the firmware update (version 1.0.4) that is expected to resolve compatibility issues with some CF cards. It seems that some cards are causing the 20D to quit functioning, requiring the removal of the batteries to force a reboot.

Well, let's hope so. The latest debacle is the switch for the CF card door is losing contact on some cameras with the BG-E2 grip. It seems when the camera is held vertically the added weight causes the switch to loose contact and shut down the camera. Some users are saying it is the switch causing all the troubles. Rumor is the Firmware update will disable the switch.

Jeff, are you going with a 20D, staying with a 10D, or are you waiting for one of those 1ds"s to be put up for sale?? (or maybe a 1Ds II ??)

I'm going to try out a 20D this week. None of the local stores here have had them in stock. I like to get the feel of a camera before I buy, kick the tires so to speak. I would really like the 1Ds or 1Ds MkII. Just can't justify the price. However, in a year or two, a nice clean used 1Ds would be nice.

20D problems may still exist after firmware 1.04, rumors are starting?

There are some reports of cameras becoming inoperable after the firmware update. Firmware updates are not without risk, which many people do not understand.

I can't get the download section to function, as if it's been pulled?
