i have 2 sennheiser mics. both use those quite expensive and quite rare mercury 5.6V batteries (PX23) that are sometimes also used in photo cameras.
is there any chance to power it another way ? i dont know... perhaps a kind of small adapter where i can power it with external batteries for example ? or has someone build something like that adapter before ? or perhaps that isnt possible ? i dont know anything about electronic so wonder if there is a chance to do that. it would be a much less expensive way to power the mics (besides the fact that its horrible to get them. or perhaps someone knows a shop in the usa who sells them for much less then here in germany ? i know there also exists a mercury free alternative version but well, havnt found them either...

Any 6V DC power supply should work.

hmmmm... but the only chance to power it is to insert a battery in it. so i need to build something thats fits the slot and then power it that way, correct ?

That will probably work okay if you are trying to avoid opening up the mic, but you'd probably have better results in the long run by soldering leads directly to wherever the battery leads end up. If I were doing this, I'd add a short length of cable with a connector on the end, so that I could easily unplug the power from the mic.

Without knowing a lot about this setup, I can't really give you any specifics.
