Before I state my problem, I should mention that I am new to Vegas, so there may very well be something simple that I am overlooking. The problem is that my DVX100A footage is playing back in a "stuttery" manner (it's not playing back smoothly.) What could I be doing wrong? I have a LaCie Firewire 800 HD, by the way. When I play normal interlace footage (from my Optura) through my NLE (Vegas) everything runs smoothly. What could I be doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

really depends on how u filmed ur progressive footage..

also i have noticed that vegas has a SLIGHT issue with progressive footage, basically slow mos become jerky if not set right..

apart from that, i dont have any issues as i use 2 dvx 100's and only use veags to edit..

are u getting dropped frames at all?? waht happening and what was the camera set to when u were filming?

There are no dropped frames, and the camera is set to 24p (thin mode, I believe.)

Hmmm..I just played back the footage on Windows Media Player, and it plays back fine.

have u renderd out from vegas then played THAT thru mediaplayer?

it could well be the codec vegas is using....

Yes, that's exactly what I did. Do I need to change the codec?

I have not done any work with footage from that camera but I would first ask: Is the project properly set up for that kind of footage?

I don't know. How would I go about doing that for DVX100 footage?

I just had a situation where a rough cut in FCP was brought to me (I don't know if or how this will also apply to Vegas, but in case it does...)

The footage itself was fine; when dropped into a sequence, it would always require rendering and then would appear jerky.

It took some sleuthing but I discovered that due to incorrect preferences, the sequences were being set up to deliver a 2.2.2.4 pulldown instead of 2.3.2.3. I simply had to create new, proper sequences and copy and paste the footage across.

2.2.2.4??? I've nver heard of that.

Anyways, your render your footage out as an AVI file with the NTSC 24pDV and whatever pulldown setting applies to how you shot it (if you shot in 24p, do 2-3, if you shot in 24p advanced, do 2-3-3-2)

Anyways...I've never used a DVX100A, HOWEVER, I shoot all my footage on Digital8, then convert it to 2-3-3-2 in post (using TMPGEnc 2.5... I love the results that I get for $37). I render it out as DV 2-3-3-2 and I exported it to my Dig8, looks great. :D So i do have quite a bit of experiance with capturing, editing and rendering 24p, just not shooting on a DVX100A (I'm allowed to answer this thread even if I havn't used a DVX100A, right?)
