I just wrapped up another Tech Tip called Lighting Units which talks about lights. It doesn't cover every light ever made, but I talk about open face, fresnels, power, etc...

Scott, I noticed you are in LA.

If you need volunteer help for a short (up to 2 day) project, I would love to help on one of your sets.

I am available nights and weekends and need to schedule 2-3 weeks ahead.

Thanks, very interesting and helpful. Especially in a way that you
may not have thought about. As (probably) everyone knows the
whole film scene is very American/English oriented and it can be
a real pain for foreigners (like myself) to find a product in our
countries or get a local name for the English name of the product
or know how it looks.

For example: I knew about clothespins (ehrm, C47 media attach-
ment clip ofcourse), but I didn't know if they looked the same
overthere as they do here (they do!). And after watching your
video I now know for sure and know how a bunch of other stuff
actually looks. So thanks a lot for that!

Are you going to do other series like flags, scrims, nets, gobo's,
reflectors etc.?

Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you found the videos helpful.

As to more tech tips, I'm open to suggestions and will look into making one on flags, gobos, scrims, etc...

Thanks Scott !!!

Somehow I sensed that the common closepin was just a clever ruse for it's true identity :

C47 media attachment clip :oP

The Indie helper series is a great resource and help.

Another possible subject if it is an area you feel confident is a sampling of actual lighting techniques to create a certain look or mood.
Could also tie in the use of gels and diffusion which lends marvelously to demonstrating the multi uses of the grips best friend, the C47 !

C47, also known as a "bullet" in some circles...

other than its obvious uses for attaching gels, can be physically reversed and turned into a tweezer-type tool for extracting hot scrims from lights.

Thanks Scott I really like the stuff on your site.

One thing that my insti-spellometre picked up was that there is a spelling mistake in the Credits section. Available is missing it's 3rd 'a' ;)

Scott,

Nice clips and plot. What camera did you use for your shooting?

That was a while back, but I think I shot that Indie Tech Tip with my little Canon ZR40 because my DVX100 was out on loan. Most of the time I shoot them with the DVX. I've been busy latetly, but hope to shoot a new tech tip soon.

Thanks for watching and I hope you found it helpful.
