I have a major problem and am hoping you guys can lend a hand. I have a 120 GB hard drive and had about 65 free when I uploaded my most recent video clip. The clip was larger than expected, 55 GB. After I finished the work I needed, I deleted the clip from my computer to free space. Then I looked at my C: drive status and it still says I have 10 GB free. Nothing has been added since that clip. (aside from the rendered copy of the movie which is less than 1 GB) Now when I try to upload more footage it says that I only have that limited amount of space when in reality it is more like 60 GB. What should I do?

Try emptying your trash can/re-cycle bin. It takes up space until it is emptied.

I have done that already. I have done all that I can think of doing but none of it is working

I wanted to add when in Premiere i save the project it is so big......Is there a way to make it smaller?

Try the search/find function and look for all files over a certain size.

The freeware program Treesize is an excellent utility for tracking down where your free space went.

The pro version isn't that great. Install the free version and intergrate it into the system shell for convenience.

use the search/find function, but try looking for all *.avi files on the c: drive... delete what you don't want.

Could it be that the FAT is still allocating space for that file. Try running scandisk, that'll probably do it.

If you do empty your norton protected files as well. Also I ahve had it do that when system restore is set on on the video drive. Restore only needs to be on on the system drive.
