it's totally awesome. i like the visual flair (literally). sheck it out. we know rob's an HD guy all the way but this looks awesome. really shows off what HD can do with a really nice story.

This is the one of the movies I'm most looking forward to. It has a fantastic look.

i think what rob did was took the comic book (or "graphic novel" they call it nowadays for unknown reasons) and literally that is the "storyboard" of the movie itself. so every technical shot is literally based on the framing of the comic book itself! that's brilliant.

He also resigned from the Director's Guild so he could make this. Apparently, unless you're brothers, it's pretty difficult to get a co-directing credit and he directed this with the guy who did the comic books.

The guy who did the comic books is Frank Miller.

As for "Princess of Mars" there is lots of material there but it's rather thin stuff compared to Tolkein. It is pulp, after all. I'd probably enjoy it. The director of "Skycaptain" supposedly took over after Rodriguez no longer was attached.

have you guys read the sin city graphic novel?

anyway, why are the rules of the director's guild so bent?

I read one of them... forgot the title.. the one that had the assassin who collected the heads of women.

That was the first one - it was originally serialized in Dark Horse Presents in 1990. It didn't have a name at the time, just Sin City.

Since then, Miller has gone back and renamed it 'The Hard Goodbye.'

It was the best one, there've been 9 of them I believe since then (the movie is doing the first 3) and they've gotten successevily less interesting as they've gone on.
