View Full Version : JVC 3-ccd HDV PRO camera coming soon?! Heath McKnight September 11th, 2004, 09:12 PM Hmm, this is interesting... (http://www.digitmag.co.uk/news/index.cfm?NewsID=4410) Thanks to Tommy Haupfear! heath Aaron Shaw September 11th, 2004, 09:22 PM Isn't this just about the ENG camera that has been announced for some time now? I could most certainly be wrong. Scott Anderson September 11th, 2004, 09:29 PM Yes, at NAB JVC was showing an early, non-functional mockup of the next HDV cam, ENG-style. They were unwilling to talk many specifics about the cam except to promise it would have 2/3" CCD's and support 24p. Heath McKnight September 11th, 2004, 09:35 PM I would concur. We have a photo of it at HDV Info Net (www.hdvinfo.net). heath Aaron Shaw September 11th, 2004, 09:37 PM Ah, ok! Thanks for the info :) Dylan Couper September 11th, 2004, 11:03 PM If it had 24p, and a Cine-look mode, this camera could be the new Sherrif of Indietown for low (not that low) budget film makers. Anyone want to run down a list of cost-effective lens options for something like this? Chris Hurd September 12th, 2004, 12:01 PM Cost effective? 2/3rd-inch? Bwa ha ha ha haaaa... Okay, your basic choices are Canon and Fujinon, but there are others... Here's the Canon broadcast lens (http://www.canon.com/bctv/index.html) site. And here's the Fujinon broadcast lens (http://www.fujinonbroadcast.com/) site. Prices range from just under $3,000 to nearly $50,000 (although there is one Fuji 2/3 at B&H for $1,500). For a detailed list of options, visit our sponsor B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/?BI=155) and navigate to Home < Professional Video < Production < Lenses & Lens Accessories < Lenses < 2/3" Lenses, sort by price, low to high. Hope this helps, Robert Jackson September 12th, 2004, 01:20 PM <<<-- Originally posted by Chris Hurd : Cost effective? 2/3rd-inch? Bwa ha ha ha haaaa... -->>> Heh...OK, OK...got any idea how much Canon's FJs series HD primes sell for? I could get a lot of mileage out of the 9mm and the 24mm as a really stripped-down set of primes. Let me guess, they're $25k or so each? Hugh DiMauro September 13th, 2004, 10:50 AM Chris! You're cold-blooded! Scott Anderson September 13th, 2004, 03:11 PM Yeah, Chris - that's cold. Funny, but cold...Actually, JVC used to have some pretty reasonable lenses budled with the DV500. They currently list the low end at around $1800 for a 16:1 Canon. Of course, that's for a 1/2" lens. The 2/3" lens on the D-9 camera will start at around $4,000. Yipee! Heath McKnight September 13th, 2004, 09:43 PM That's for non-HD stuff. hwm |
