View Full Version : I wouldn't say that the FX1 is just another HDV cam Young Lee September 10th, 2004, 01:51 AM http://www.dvuser.co.kr/zboard/data/VXPD/1094592113/fx1.jpg http://www.dvuser.co.kr/zboard/data/VXPD/1094592113/fx1.jpg Daymon Hoffman September 10th, 2004, 04:27 AM What do you say it is? :P /me would kill to get his hands on a native solids model of the FX1 Steve Crisdale September 10th, 2004, 06:11 AM Neither would I.....but I would say that it's just another HDV low-cost HD camcorder (given there's only the HD10 out there!!!) - mind you, it's going to have far more interest in it than the HD10, as well as a hell of a lot more Broadcast Level cred amongst those that matter..... I'd expect JVC will be forced to counter Sony's initial effort. Whether the ENG style HDV camcorder they've already shown will be the basis of that counter....or an as yet unseen surprise release will be used to take the limelight from Sony is yet to be seen. One things for sure....even a HD10 early adopter like myself is more than ridiculously tempted by the Sony FX1, and if I'm feeling like that, there's bound to be many more feeling the same. That's not good news for JVC's HD long term plans!! Charles Papert September 10th, 2004, 10:08 AM JVC has a long history of being the first out of the gate with a new format and then having other manufacturers reap all the benefits (usually by coming out with superior products that use that technology). How many of you owned JVC VHS decks? They invented that one... Eric Bilodeau September 10th, 2004, 10:15 AM Charles's got a point. But let's not forget that JVC wants to stand forward in HD products for the masses (DVHS for instance). They will continue to work on improving HDV but JVC is also Matsushita's testing ground so Panasonic might benefit from that research more than JVC itself in the end... Ken Hodson September 10th, 2004, 11:43 AM I continually get a scense of behind the scenes corporate hand-shaking going on. JVC gets to call the shots somewhat being the pioneer. Free market reign for 2 years. Sony enters and gives the format mass acceptance, which JVC ulimately needs. Most people didn't even know of HDV untill a few days ago! Ed Hill September 11th, 2004, 10:26 AM I guess the FX1 will force the HD10 prices to drop. JVC almost has to drop price just to stay in the market. |
