I have a 2 minute video created with Pinnacle Studio that I've uploaded to my website. However, when you click the file, it downloads the file instead of automatically launching the player and playing the movie. How do I get it to do that?

This one happens to be .rm but I'd like to make it happen for Windows Media Player too.

Thanks,
Susan Lassiter-Lyons

Hello Susan,

There are several options for delivering your streamed video. I use Discreet Cleaner, which creates the needed files. From what I understand Microsoft is offering a free encoder which does the same thing. There is a discussion going on in this forum regarding their service. You might try doing a search, or just look through the messages in the Web Video Delivery section.

You can find out more about Discreet at: www.discreet.com

I'm not sure about Real media, but for Windows Media it must have an .asx code associated with it. This HTML code makes the file stream and not download.

That's exactly the answer I'm looking for. Thanks! I looked at discreet but I can't see what it does differently than Studio.

Susan,
Is the video file an .asf file?
