Previously I had been told by Canon USA (and have relayed on the Watchdog) that the LightWave Systems SI-XL1 System Isolator is incompatible with the XL2. Well, it's only incompatible if you do things their way. What I found is that it is indeed perfectly compatible if you know how to connect the EVF cable properly. Last week, I recieved a Light Wave System Isolator for my XL1s. The weight redistribution is excellent, but I am not keen on the stress it puts on the evf cable, thus making it unusable to me.

I saw your reference to the "Tips And Tricks" page, and photo 4 shows exactly what I'm talking about. Am I the only one that finds that tension unacceptable for an XL2, much less an XL1s?

Also last week, I wrote to Canon and Light Wave for suggestions, with no replies so far. I only spent 3 grand (after rebate) with one, and $100 with the other. I guess I'm asking too much.

An extender of some sort (cable or turnaround) would be nice. I've seen some posts here, but nothing specific. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Until then, my System Isolator sits on the shelf...

Well, it may not be any consolation, but the System Isolator is a "better fit" on the XL2 because there's not as much stress on that cable as there is on the XL1/XL1S.
