Ive come across an interesting problem I can't seem to find information on. When I capture from the DVX100 to Final Cut Pro HD, clips filmed in 24p advanced mode seem to transfer an 2.9mb/sec, while regular 24p is captured at 3.6. The frame rate also is higher at 24.98 instead of 24.97. Since FCP is preconfigured to capture at 3.6, why should it give me a lower quality in advanced mode. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Im at a dead end!

Frame rate is 24.98 are you sure? I am not a final cut pro junkie but 24PA process should leave you with 23.976 frame rate. My assumption would be that FCP rounds off some digits. Wish i could say something around "move to Vegas, if you use DVX", it sure cuts out all nonsense though. Good luck.

thanks for the imput. Yes, there is actually a .01 difference between the two clips. As to what this means and how to fix it, is another story.
