Any ideas how I can make the rapid-echo wispy voice sound effect like the little girl in the TV in Poltergeist? I'll be using Peak DV...if I can figure it out.

Geez, John, you mean when i go to blockbuster I have to rent not only The English patient but Poltergeist, also?

Come on now...you mean you guys don't remember that cool sound effect when the little girl talks from the TV?!

Wait a minute...might be my age is showing here. Okay...a show of hands...how many out there had their adult teeth by the time Poltergeist was released?

Hey John,

I'm raising my hand - how could anyone from that era forget, "They're heeeere." (Or "Step into the light!")

Sorry, can't help you with the effect, though. The Fed Ex boxes with my sound gear are just starting to arrive.

One way to get the effect is:

Record the audio. Reverse it. Add echo. Then unreverse it. When you play it back, the echo will precede the actual sound.

Hope this helps.

Just talk into a fan, add some echo and there ya go! Worked for me!

Try using a reverse reverb with a full mix effect and a long decay and add a noisgate to it.
